McConnell says he doesn't have the votes to block witnesses?
If McConnell can't block witnesses, then make Biden, Adam Schiff, Pelosi, the whistleblower - all of them and more - testify. If not, we the base of the Republican Party have the votes to block any Republican in the Senate from being re-elected.
Why should Republicans exercise "The Senate shall have sole power to try all impeachments" as the Constitution says and in the same manner Democrats did with their "sole power" in the House? To bring an end to the Age of Impeachment.
Republicans did not get to call the witnesses they wanted when Schiff was interrogating people in the basement, and this set the agenda for selective leaks by Schiff and what infrmation was eventually presented to vote over whether or not to impeach, the both of which only benefitted Democrats.
The WH should move to block Bolton from testifying under Executive Privilege thus asserting their constitutional right of co-equal branches and to reaffirm the constitution declares the Supreme Court of the United States to be the arbiter of differences in these situations, which Democrats blatantly ignored when they charged the White House with Obstructing of Congress which is not an impeachable offense like Obstruction of Justice. And the White House was correct in ignoring the subpoenas because Rick Perry and others we're not going to be given the right to have an attorney present with them when they were to meet with Schiff during his interrogation of them.
Then the Senate should remind the House "The Senate shall have sole power to try all impeachments," then remind Americans of everything that Democrats said they had sole power over in the House, and then notify Democrats that they shall be treated in the same manner as they were treated by Schiff, Pelosi, Nadler, and other Democrats, namely, that Republicans were denied the right to call witnesses to meet Schiff to be interrogated, so they too will deny Senate Democrats calling witnesses.
Remind them of how Schumer in 1999 said that Senate trials of impeachment are political in nature just like impeachments are.
If they say no, hold them in contempt. If Republicans are asked why they are holding them in contempt, tell the U.S this is urgent like Pelosi once said and that this needs to be dealt with quickly.
Some will say that there is a box that the Senate is held within concerning what it may and may not do, but Democrats didn't act like there was a box they were held within. I don't know if the following should be done, but the Senate can make them testify and deny them counsel when they appear in the Senate the same way as Schifty did when he interrogated them in secret.
mcconnel and the gopE are doing to Trump exactly what they did to the Tea Party.
Surely Dersh and Sekulow will advise McConnel?
We are tired of people like Romney, Collins, etc, virtue signaling how things need to be done cordially and in accordance with Queensbury rules when Democrats ala Tong Po are dipping their gloves in broken glass per the movie “Kickboxer” with Van Damme.
Appeal to the Supreme Court, or just rule that the 4 presidential candidates are disqualified from voting.
Biden is finished. Bernie is winning in Iowa and NH.
Biden is on video 4 times saying he would cut Social Security. He. Is. Finished.
They think they can stop Bernie by keeping him in D.C.?
Or raw power vs. raw power...
Just because they have more members does not make them the majority. They would prefer to be the minority.
Hopefully they will tell him “Be like a greasy Italian tank and run them over!”
If they want to play witnesses, let's go to the mat.
Perhaps there is something going on that they want us to ignore. And what better show than showing how senile Joe is, and what a crook his son is.
Do you for one minute thing that the same RINOs that vote for witnesses are going to vote to hear from Joe or Hunter Biden?
Hell no. They'll vote to hear from Bolton, and block any attempts to hear from exculpatory witnesses.
The only thing protecting Trump now is- 95% Republican Party rank-and-file support, 35% Democrat rank-and-file support, 30-35% African-American support, and 45-50% Hispanic support.
They would all prefer to be president but that is never going to happen if they keep this up and don’t start dipping their gloves in the glass.
The Supreme Court has already ruled in Nixon V. United States (1993 - not President Nixon) that they have no jurisdiction over how the Senate conducts impeachment trials
They want Trump gone....
No senator will vote to convict...
They will drag this out for a couple of months and hope Trump poll numbers tank ..and he loses the election...
They want it to be a fair trial....fools all
The most useless party...
Raw power would be if the Deep State, Senators and Congressmen feared the people not the other way around. If the GOP looked out their windows and saw a sea of torches and pitchforks, they would stiffen their spines rather that act like collaborators. Alas, nothing like that seems likely.
Then they will be run out of office, and neither they nor their children, whom they have no doubt ruined, will ever get close to being anything more than a measly $30k a year state senator.
Trump is once in 10 lifetimes, and we will have long memories over this.
As I have said, the Senate has unlimited power in how they behave in this
Repubs are such limp dic*s.
