Last evening on NBC nightly news they reported a small airplane crash somewhere in the south east. There was one fatality, the pilot. Remarked to my wife why is this making the national news?
This crash, in contrast, is news and almost as shocking as when JFK JR. crashed his aircraft into the Atlantic off Martha's Vineyard in July 1996.

JFK Jr. crashed July 16, 1999, the night I rolled into my new town for a California stay that turned out to be 16 years long. I turned on the hotel room TV the next morning to that news.

yesterday’s plane crash you’re referring to occurred just outside an airport community where some of my family members live in north florida...
plane burst in flames on impact killing the female pilot...
