Motion to Dismiss Not In Current Resolution
BEJ

Posted on 01/16/2020 11:02:06 PM PST by BEJ

Mitch McConnell has stated to model trial rules after the Clinton impeachment rules. However, as it stand tonight according to Laura Ingraham, it will not include a provision for a motion to dismiss.

What the hell is going on! Any thoughts?

That’s fine. Being found not guilty is better.

I don’t trust McConnell as far as I could throw him.

This is not confirmed, yet. It’s troubling if true. I don’t have a lot of faith in the Senate GOP in any event.

Motion to dismiss says impeachment was groundless, as in no grounds for impeachment. Dismissal is better than a trial which gives credence for a trial.

Laura Ingram seemed unusually aggravated tonight!!! She was irritated interrupting her guests and she came at the senator from AZ. like a pit bull. I don’t think Laura has a good feeling about this!!!

Does a member (Senator) actually have to make a motion to dismiss?

Anyone ought to be able to see the connivance going on. There is no reason in hell not to consider a motion to dismiss. It was there in Clinton’s case. What the hell have you got to lose by trying to kill the beast straight away, unless you have something else up your sleeve. My biggest fear is in the eleventh hour someone will file a motion for secret ballot on conviction or acquittal. If that craziness happens, you can bet there are enough sleeper RINOs who will push a knife in the back of DJT for conviction.

You are going to be in for at least a week of the older members of FR posting every random damn thing they see on FB or Twitter or from their email, and emoting their little hearts out.

To be fair, a lot of internet bloggers are going to be feeding these people with easy clickbait.

McConnell treasures his position and, in his own mind, his hallowed performance as the soon-to-be longest-ever serving leader of the senate.

Beyond that, nothing matters. He would jail the president before tarnishing what he sees as his legacy.

As I’ve said for about 2 months on Twit, I don’t think Yertle has 51 votes to dismiss. I think he has 45-46 to dismiss. Not enough.

I think he will get 52-55 votes to acquit. I expect all Rs to vote to acquit except, perhaps, Minion, and I expect both Manchin and Jones to vote to acquit.

You should. I’ve tracked over the past three years when Yertle has made a public “promise,” that is, a statement that the Senate would do x, y, z.

He is 100%.

He said they would PASS the tax cut. They did.
He said they would confirm Gorsuch. They did.
He said they would VOTE on the Obamacare replacement. Interestingly he did NOT promise it would pass (McTurd).
He said they would confirm Kavanaugh. They did.
He said they would pass USMCA. They did.

In short, when Yertle speaks, listen carefully. He knows what votes he has or doesn’t have. He knows there are only 45-46 votes to dismiss outright. He also knows that no Rs, save Minion, will defect on an acquittal, and I think he suspects Manchin and Jones will also vote to acquit.

The GOP wants Trump gone....they cannot convict him...
But they can drag this out and hope Trump polls go down enough to lose the election...

Trump has exposed all the corruption in DC..both democrats and republicans
