The equipment in the photos aren’t bulldozers, they are frontloaders.

Everyone knew the Iranians were itching for retaliation. Who the hell in a sane mind would board a plane in Tehran during this time?
If I had been in that country, I would have waited a couple of days before flying out. No, scratch that. I would never put myself in such a situation.

They already recovered the FDR and the CVR. There are images of the blackened cases in the Reuters article.

The Iranians have said the FDR has “missing” data and they are refusing to turn it over to anyone. According to a couple of aviation experts, Iran not only doesn’t have the necessary technology to interpret the FDR, they may not have the means to even open the cases.

It is my understanding the Russian SAM battery can be set for either manual or auto-detection. If the missiles were set in auto-detection, they can fire on their own depending on the target they are locked onto.

I would bet the SAM batteries are manned by Iranian conscripts and not Republican Guard troops. They probably took the “easy” way out and had the battery set up in auto so they wouldn’t have a high work-load. Because of this, and the ascent of the 737, the missile locked on the aircraft and fired. It’s a tragedy for the families whose relatives were on board, but I don’t think it was an intentional shoot-down

Why piss off Canada, Germany, Ukraine, and other countries when the MSM was doing an effective job of lambasting Trump for the demise of Soleimani?

You are also an idiot if during a time of elevated tensions you allow a commercial airport to be open to traffic, especially with SAM batteries in the area on operational alert. What’s the saying, disasters happen when mistakes converge?

They may not have known of a missile strike 500 miles away.

Call it conspiratorial, but Iran may well be doing the “dirty work” for someone outside their border.

That foreign investigators and inquiry is shut off, is a likely clue in itself.

If foreign investigators had been allowed to investigate, and or there were any tiny possible manifest (witness) or cargo ties to illegal foreign “deep state” activity - Obama/Clinton/Kerry project witnesses, or possibly persons with knowledge of U.S. finance, or knowledge of nuclear material, it is likely even the foreign investigators (Canadian, Ukrainian, Russian, UN, or even U.S.) would have probably had to try to cover it all up as well.

At this point, while not 100% ruling it out, I don’t know, or believe, Iran is even trying to cover up a missile strike. Iran knows there was immediate and precise U.S. and western sensor data and ID of the strike iteelf, (as well as western imagery and BDA), precise (night centered) witness video of the strike itself, and on the ground photos of a TOR M1 warhead circulated globally.

As well, it’s pretty clear Iran is less worried about the “optics” of holding the “black box”, and destruction of the debris field, than what could have been found. This appears to be some type of deliberate messaging.

We’ll see how the Iranian apologists in the U.S. fit this in to the wall-to-wall Trump hate-fest.

I knew that. It was a joke.

Thanks for the info about the Auto-detect missiles.

1) No distress call from the aircraft

2) Surface-to-Air missile part found near wreckage site

3) Video of SAM streaking towards and striking the aircraft

4) Photos clearly show SHRAPNEL holes in aircraft debris

5) Satellite telemetry data intel indicates aircraft was shot down

6) Bulldozing crash site quickly after incident

Nope, I don't see any evidence this aircraft was shot down! /s

As others have said here, I believe the SAM system was on 'AUTO' mode and responded to an aircraft flying within it's coverage area.

The Iranians were deathly afraid of incoming American aircraft (fighter jets, drones, etc) in a massive attack scenario and were in 'shoot now think later' mode.

Yeah, I had heard that maybe 2 were fired. To me that would point even more towards a "non accident" scenario. Sure, there are some systems that will double-tap. That is, decide to shoot two interceptors against a target in order to increase the probability of a kill. However, according to Wikipedia, the SA-15 has 8 missiles, that's not a lot of engagements if you start popping them off two at a time. Given that the missiles themselves are apparently very capable I'd bet you a dozen donuts their "shot doctrine" against slow moving targets (eg. climbing airliners) is "shoot-look-shoot" - meaning shoot one, evaluate if you hit it or not, then shoot again if necessary. You only go "shoot-shoot-look" against challenging targets.

So if the SA-15 fired two... That means the operator probably ordered a double-tap. Or after the first missed they didn't bother to inhibit the follow-up shot. There would have been plenty of time between the first shot, the "oh {excrement}!" moment, and inhibit any further shots if it had been an accident. If they shot two, it was 'cause they meant to take down that target.
