Buck was funny but I never warmed up to the guy. His character in “Catch 22” kept running in my head when I saw him...

Get Smart is a strong memory my pre-teen years; it made Saturday nights special.

And Snyder the IRS agent in “Grumpy Old Men” - didn’t everyone cheer when the snow from the roof came down on him?

Buck kept the censors busy on “Get Smart”. There are a lot of allusions in the scripts that you know were raunchier the first time through. No doubt Agent 99 was originally Agent 69.

Just damn.

I guess I am getting to the age where people respected are dying. Rock stars, GOOD comedians, great actors (although for the latter we lost many when we were so much younger — the new crop have few greats).

In our parents’ days they did not have the Internet to mourn.

Also Screenwriter for Catch-22 and The Graduate, and Heaven Can Wait.

Is humor was so dry, he outfoxed Walter Cronkite into performing a TV interview of him, thinking Buck Henry (Zuckermann) was the President, G. Clifford Prout, of SINA, Society for Indecency to Naked Animals, a group sought clothing naked animals, including pets, barnyard animals, and large wildlife. (from Wikipedia)

My favorite Buck Henry skit was “Talk Back”....as the talk show host desperate to get people to call in...

“... How ‘bout this? “Killing Puppies — It Doesn’t Bother Me” ... That’s me, Frank Noland, and I LIKE dead puppies! Frankly, I’m totally in favor of using federally supported municipal bonds to pay for forced busing of Soviet Communists to come into your homes to kill your puppies! Give me a call, won’t you? The lines are open. Tell ME what you think about it. Dead, mangled puppies ... I like ‘em ...

Okay. While you’re thinking about THOSE topics, here are a half a dozen others which I, Frank Noland, am personally in favor of. “Adolf Hitler — Boy, Do We Need Him Now”! Huh? What about that? Hey, “Incest — I Practice It, Why Don’t You?” Give me a call. Talk to me about it. “No Toilets for the Blind”? Call me! Call me, if you’re watching! And, and ...”

Funny guy. Very understated. Kinda like a Bob Newhart type person.
