If I remember correctly a football game has 60 regulation minutes. Therefore, playing the game to the best of your ability for 60 minutes seems to me to be the only way to play the game.
In baseball it is not uncommon for a team to win by say, 13-1. No one ever to my knowledge has ever criticized the team with 13 runs as running up the score on the team with 1 run.
In hockey a team will continue to try to score even with mere minutes remaining even when they are up by several goals and it is impossible for the other team to ever hope to catch them. This is never an issue in hockey.
Why does this seem to come up fairly often in reference to football?

18 points is hardly “running up the score”, that’s basically three possessions of scoring ...

I like coaches that make their players give 100% every minute of the game...

That said, there’s a time to pull your starters out.

It was definitely out of character for Saban. I’ve been a Bama fan for over 40 years. I have never seen Saban score under similar circumstances. That said, I think it was personal for Saban. It wasn’t like they ran a gimmick play to score- just a hand-off up the middle.

Dunno about the lead’s question, but one things for sure > Wisconsin was robbed by a ref in the fourth quarter.

Deep down, Oregon’s gotta know it too, and it oughta bother ‘em.

” Minnesota on the other hand WAS VERY READY. Whipped the fire out of a pretty good Auburn U team.”

Crap. Auburn is always idiotic in post season play. A couple of years back they (Auburn) beat BOTH number one rated teams in the nation (Alabama and Georgia), then lost their bowl game to West Apopka State University, or whatever that Florida team was. Auburn is just Auburn. I love them and pull for them every time they play anyone but Alabama, but they are HARD to love.

Big 10 ball is the most overrated stuff out there.

Let's see... Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't fans pay big money to see excitement/scoring in a football game?

Maybe there should be surrender flags used in college football... We'll just have to learn to call it faggot football...

I hate Bama and 19 points is NOT running up the score. Especially in college where margins of victory are routinely over 50.

Question is silly IMHO.

Bill Belichik and Nick Saban are long lost brothers with the same trait - no sympathy for anyone. A wounded Grandma in the street, kick her out of the cross walk.

You teach your kids to execute your job, play hard and never quit. Sometimes subs are used. Do you tell these kids to quit just because the other team did not do their job?
If Michigan doesn’t like it, they can stop them.

Correct. Najee Harris was running angry and Michigan didn’t stop him. The play calls on the last drive were nothing fancy, just straight runs up the middle. It wasn’t our fault that Michigan couldn’t stop Najee.

I do believe, though, that the last TD was a subtle middle finger to Harbaugh for Harbaugh’s childish off the field antics and slander against Alabama. Despite that, Michigan still had the chance to stop Najee on the last TD but they didn’t.

I admit that I was laughing after Najee’s TD. I laughed even harder when we intercepted Michigan’s Hail Mary pass.

It’s also worth remembering that Bama and Michigan fought a bitter recruiting war for Najee.

It is running up the score, there is no way they could last and it’s not stop playing , it is slowing down for what was once considered class and good sportsmanship

So I guess that’s why Saban and Miss Terry (his wife) recently donated over a million dollars to build a children’s center in Tuscaloosa. They also built a Catholic Center on the UA campus. Saban also donates his time for helping to construct homes for “Habitat for Humanity”.

Oh, I almost forgot, the Sabans also founded their own personal charity, named “Nick’s Kids” which raises millions for local children in need. Yep, he’s a horrible person.

Your jealousy is extremely amusing.

All this over one touchdown? Scored by running the ball?

You’ve got to be kidding.

If the clock is ending the game you just let the air out and sit on it.

Something personal here with the coaches.
