CNN’s beleaguered media show “Reliable Sources” with Brian Stelter hit an embarrassing new low on Dec. 22, when it averaged only 85,000 viewers among a key age group.
Stelter regularly touts the significance of the news demographic of adults age 25-54 but the dismal performance marked his lowest viewership of 2019 in the category.
The dismal performance from Stelter came as Fox News’ “Media Buzz,” a direct timeslot competitor, thumped CNN’s “Reliable Sources” across the board in 2019.
Stelter’s “Reliable Sources” averaged only 748,000 total viewers for the year prior to its 2019 finale on Dec. 29, while “Media Buzz” averaged 1.3 million over the same time period.
In addition, CNN’s Sunday morning media show lost 12 percent of its viewers compared to 2018, while “Media Buzz” kept its audience with nearly identical year-to-year averages. Among the demo, “Reliable Sources” averaged only 167,000 viewers during 2019 compared to 227,000 for “Media Buzz” prior to the Dec. 29 episodes.
The 2019 demo low of “Reliable Sources” on Dec. 22 occurred on the same day that “Media Buzz” topped its yearly demo viewership, averaging 298,000 age 25-54 viewers for its third-best performance of the year, indicating the holiday season is not what kept viewers away from CNN.
The “Reliable Sources” host who also pens a media newsletter by the same name, has pivoted from straight news about journalism to focusing on President Trump.
Stelter has repeatedly criticized Trump and members of his administration, often questioning Trump’s mental health and fitness for office.
Back in August he was condemned for blaming technical issues for staying quiet when a guest said Trump is responsible for more deaths than brutal dictators Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong

Howie Kurtz used to host “Reliable Sources” until he left for FNC. I watched it once in a while.
I also watch Kurtz’ “Media Buzz” occasionally on Sunday mornings. Kurtz is a lib, for sure, and the premise of the show is to cover news media news coverage. I watch mostly because Mollie Hemingway is often a guest. She’s always worth watching.
With few exception, Fox is almost as bad as CNN.
Odd you say Stelter is ugly. I was thinking how he thinks he is a cutesy patootsey. Not a manly trait. Not a manly man.

I can get fox News and CNN International (I never watch it but it is available) in Spain. OAN is not available. Can it be streamed?
I heard it can on their website. The network is what fox was when it began and maybe even better.
Agree. I used to watch hours of it. Now, I will occasionally catch “the five” and hannity once in awhile.....I got sick of his teaser “breaking news” that ended up being nothing. And again rarely I’ll catch Greg gutfield’s show on Saturday night. It’s enjoyable.
I recommend Fox Business during day...I don’t have OAN...
I like both business and politics...Varney and Melissa Francis are particularly pro-Trump—Bartiromo and Charles Payne are very good too...
Early Evening into night Elizabeth McDonald, Lou Dobbs, and Trish Regan are wonderful...Kennedy is Libertarian...she is OK...
Then if I still want news, I switch to Fox and watch Hannity or Carlson...
Cavuto is the only real stinker on Fox Business IMHO—and he is better than a lot of Fox...
He is. He’s so butt ugly and buffoonish at the same. Honestly I could kick that melon head of his into the stratosphere.
Bret Baier and especially Chris Wallace can go... along with the token Juan Williams. Jesse waters and Stuart Varney are the only patriots I can stand listening to. Dobbs has dementia and you can’t take little girl Trish Regan seriously.
