LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger's daughter-in-law, Carley McCord, was one of five people killed in a plane crash in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Saturday.
McCord, a sideline reporter and sports talk radio host covering the New Orleans Pelicans, Saints and other sports, was traveling on a private plane to Atlanta to watch No. 1 LSU play No. 4 Oklahoma in a College Football Playoff semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
Her husband, Steve Ensminger Jr., was already in Atlanta. His father is coaching the Peach Bowl.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron told ESPN's Holly Rowe, "Our thoughts and prayers out to him. Steve and his wife, his family are so distraught. Steve is a man. He knows how to handle things."
WDSU-TV in New Orleans, which employed McCord as a sideline reporter, issued a statement on McCord's death.

Feel sorry for him but am really pissed at the officiating for this game even though I’m an LSU fan.
I upped my bet on the news. they are going to want to win for the Coach. ..plus I love Joe Burrow story.
Can’t imagine how tough to work that game for that Coach.
Btw, one bookie has said that the Clemson game will be the biggest college bet game ever as per twitter.
I am going Clemson but mixed it with other bets to up the line to adding points with things I think are going to win.
It was a close call on the Manchester soccer 1 half but rock on, baby.
Now watch THE Ohio state blow Clemson out of the water.
Oklahoma just got a player ejected for targeting. Rock on.
LSU is going to hang at least 60 points on OU.
I am betting the 1/4s but at some point the blowout will be so big they will probably pull Burrow.
LSU might put up 60 in the 1st half.
If this were a fight, the referee would have stopped it by now.
I DVRd the game so I just saw the pass interference non-call. Wow. Is the fix in on this game?
Small Piper turboprop.
As bad as that non-call was, it really wouldn’t have mattered in the big scheme of things, OU is just flat-out overmatched.
Horrible no call. Changed the momentum of the game too.
I'm not for either team but I was enjoying a close matchup.
The play calls that looked like a fix to me was the Hawaii Bowl game with BYU. Crazy calls. It DID make a difference. It’s like someone made a phone call during the half.
Yeah. I just saw the other thread that shows the score. I should’ve know better than to FReep while watching a recorded game. Ah, well. Don’t really care who wins. I just want to see good games. Of course officials are going to make mistakes but that was ridiculous.
Tough? It’s callous and inhuman. His son is grieving the loss of his wife and where’s dad—at work. No question this man’s priorities are screwed up.
I don’t see it that way at all. Their family is all about LSU. LSU brought back the father in law. She died on the way to LSU game.
It will be a tribute to her. Watch what happens and what people say when this blow out is over.
