There is a huge increase in cowardice in the UK and Europe. If even 10% had the courage to stand up for their brave heritage and traditions the insidious invaders could be beaten back. Instead almost everyone cowers, afraid to face the disapproval of their “betters.” How many would have to be charged with “hate” speech before the whole farce of a ruling class would collapse?

The Empire hasn’t been there, the United Kingdom will be gone and eventually England as well. Nothing lasts forever.
People in the 130s in the Roman Empire thought it would last forever.
People in the 70s thought the USSR would last well past their lifetimes.

Awhile back I read an article about the fall of the Roman Empire. The author took an unusual approach. Instead of listing the usual suspects (corruption, barbarians, etc.), he blamed the fall on complacency.
There would always be a Roman Empire. So why bother with any reforms?
I suppose the US and the UK are moving down that same path.
Carrying ANYTHING for the purpose of self-defense is illegal in the UK. Carrying a walking stick? You better have a prescription. Cricket bat? Better be going to or from a game. Etc.
That’s why they have people fighting a knife-armed murderer with a narwhal tusk and a fire extinguisher.
Basically, it is a denial of the value of the lives of the Queen’s subjects, and their right to life.
Well the Roman Empire did last a pretty long time.
I thought our republic might be on its way out during the Obama interregnum.
But perhaps the Trump era will provide another generation of hope and prosperity, as did Reagan.

Interestingly the “there’ll always be a Roman Empire” is why the barbarians took up Roman culture, language and civilization (the Franks and Lombards became the French and Italians, while the majority of Viking warrior blood is with the Spaniards, Scots, English, French etc.)
That is true - the Roman Empire lasted at least from 704 BC to 1453 AD —> over 2000 years. Not bad.
The Egyptian empire also lasted 3000 years, the Persian empire through burbs etc. for over 1000 years.
