Theyve glued themselves to trains, blockaded major bridges, and chained themselves to government buildings. Theyve launched street protests that brought parts of London and New York and Sydney to a standstill. And theyve purposely gotten arrested - thousands of them - all in the name of saving our climate.
Extinction Rebellion, or XR for short, is the movement behind some of the boldest climate protests of the year. It burst onto the scene in the UK in 2018, demanding that the British government achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. Greta Thunberg rallied behind it, and soon, thousands of activists around the globe did too. XR has spread to dozens of countries, including the US.
XRs cofounder, the longtime British climate activist Roger Hallam, has a new book out explaining the rationale behind this global rebellion. In Common Sense for the 21st Century, Hallam argues that nonviolent civil disobedience is our only shot at countering the climate emergency. That means breaking the law by blocking roads and disrupting transit, and getting arrested en masse, until the government agrees to up its game on fighting climate change. And if it doesnt agree? Then topple the government, Hallam says.

Just run over the cliffs like lemmings. Problem solved.
If the entire population of the planet were to disappear tomorrow the climate would continue changing. The premise is absurd on its’ face.
Perhaps if they stop breathing, that would help.
How come my granddaughter grows a foot a month, but the time left until extinction is still 11 1/2 years away.
Have these people tried those tactics in China? Shouldn't they be starting with the worst polluters?
Ok. Revolt. Dont talk about it. Revolt. Oh, and stay off my yard beotchs this here aint no toy.
Hell yeah revolt. Maybe it will help to thin the crazy herd.
The leaders of the revolt will be safe I’m sure.
They have two kerosene lanterns behind them. Kind of hard, ain’t it.
For any that have not figured it out yet, it’s NOT “Climate
Change” That the powers that be want to stop.
In fact, they are counting on it.
That’s why they are targeting energy production and carbon
fuels.
The know that the optimum level of CO2 for plant life, and
thus animal life, is about twice what we have today, and
they wish to reduce that as much as possible before we enter
the coming solar minimum. (As well as any practical means to
generate warmth.)
Much more suffering and death that way.

Dust a few and see the crowd thin. Trespassing is against the law and the three things needed for self defense is opportunity, ability, and intent. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
As the Sun cycles down and global temperatures drop the hot air will go out of the CO2 theory balloon.
At last! A chance for patriots or a patriotic government to get rid of a bunch of luddites. The English took care of their luddites, but we haven’t done the same with ours.
Is it time to incarcerate climate change hoaxers?
HOW DO WE STOP THIS ????

Earlier this year, US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the British Geological Survey (BGS) were forced to update the World Magnetic Model a year ahead of schedule due to the speed with which the magnetic north pole is shifting out of the Canadian Arctic and toward Russias Siberia.
Deep solar minimum on the verge of an historic milestone

Solar minimum is a normal part of the 11-year sunspot cycle, but the last one and the current one have been far deeper than most. One of the consequences of a solar minimum is a reduction of solar storms and another is the intensification of cosmic rays. The just ended solar cycle 24 turned out to be one of the weakest in more than a century continuing a weakening trend that began in the 1980s and, if the latest forecasts are correct, the next solar cycle will be the weakest in more than 200 years.
One of the natural impacts of decreasing solar activity is the weakening of the ambient solar wind and its magnetic field which, in turn, allows more and more cosmic rays to penetrate the solar system. Galactic cosmic rays are high-energy particles originating from outside the solar system that can impact the Earths atmosphere. Our first line of defense from cosmic rays comes from the sun as its magnetic field and the solar wind combine to create a shield that fends off cosmic rays attempting to enter the solar system. The shielding action of the sun is strongest during solar maximum and weakest during solar minimum with the weakening magnetic field and solar wind. The intensity of cosmic rays varies globally by about 15% over a solar cycle because of changes in the strength of the solar wind, which carries a weak magnetic field into the heliosphere, partially shielding Earth from low-energy galactic charged particles.
Well sounds like were going to freeze our arses off for 11 years then die of global warming in 11.6 years. I had plans for 12.7 years. This is a hell of a note. I didnt get the memo 20.2 years ago. Sure wish I hadnt sold my wood stove. /s
21 Nov: BBC: Extinction Rebellion: Co-founder (Roger Hallam) apologises for Holocaust remarks
He added that he was sorry for the “crass words” he had used but did not feel the need to apologise for drawing attention to the “genocide that is happening now” - an apparent reference to climate change.
What has the response been?
“We distance ourselves from Roger Hallam’s trivialising and relativising comments about the Holocaust,” said XR Germany’s Annemarie Botzki in a tweet...
XR spokesman: “Internal conversations have begun with the XR Conflict team about how to manage the conflict process that will address this issue. We stand by restorative outcomes as preferable, although in some cases exclusion is necessary.”...
Green politician Volker Beck accused Mr Hallam on Twitter of “bringing the climate movement into disrepute.”
The XR co-founder’s German publisher, Ullstein, announced it had stopped the publication of his book on climate change, saying it was disassociating itself from his comments
