We recently had more than a few applicants who spoke in the same manner. There was even one time the guy said “like” 20 times in 60 seconds..and we counted it.

Like generations. Sadly, this degradation of the language with endless ‘likes’ is just the tip of the iceberg. Add to ‘likes’, ‘so’s’. So he went like and I went like’, ‘know what I mean’ following every phrase and unhinged sentence.

All discourse seemingly needing to end with a question mark given the speaker’s inflection: Like I told him like to leave and he like refused. Like it was scary, know what I mean? So like he is so like speaking like a foreign language know what I mean?

Not to mention a nasal pitch especially for younger women which sounds as if it came from a 1921 Victrola.
