Eager Black Friday shoppers charged into stores and battled over cut-price goods in a worldwide shopping frenzy today. The bargain craze, which originates in the United States where it marks the day after Thanksgiving, has taken off in Europe where customers browsed the aisles in Britain, France and Germany this morning. Some shoppers began their bargain hunting early, including in Brazil where customers were seen rushing to get their hands on Samsung ultra high-definition TVs. There were also frenzied scenes in South Africa where some shoppers had to take refuge from a doorway bundle, in Uganda where one woman was seemingly taken away on a stretcher, and in Pennsylvania where a brawl broke out outside a Forever 21 store.

As bad as the days after Christmas when you fight to get in line to return things you fought to get in line to buy before Christmas.

Black Friday is world wide? But these other countries don’t have Thanksgiving. Interesting.

Black Friday has been going on since Halloween and will continue until the New Year.

Psst, shoppers, there’s such a thing as ordering on line. Better yet, no one needs or wants 98% of that junk you’re buying.

Nope. But every country has the Friday after America celebrates Thanksgiving.

It's huge in Russia. I was just reading an article about it.

I had to go out this morning to get some prescriptions refilled. It was going to be maybe 20 minutes so I decided to stop by Walmart which was only half a mile away.

I was surprised how few people were in the store, just a bit more than usual. On the other hand there was nothing at all that I wanted of the Black Friday deals.

There must have been a huge crowd at one time tho as I saw a bunch of shopping carts maybe 150 yards from the store in the grassy area.

I did find a neat king sized sheet set on clearance at half price and I needed them.

Britain, France, Germany, Brazil, South Africa, Uganda — it is nice to see that Christianity and the true meaning of Christmas has spread so far and wide.

I do most of my shopping online. Yesterday was no exception. Bought a PS4 console online for the gkids and have until next Thursday to pick it up. Everything else is being shipped. Don’t buy much anymore anyway but it’s all online.

If you must shop, I recommend grocery stores. In my experiences, supermarkets are nearly desolate on this day.

Stupidity is a global and serious unheralded epidemic. Also did you see that banner ‘consumerism = climate crisis’? No shortage of idiots worldwide.

Engineered covetousness

“Who do you think you are— recklessly grabbing and looting, Living it up, acting like king of the mountain, acting above it all, above trials and troubles. You’ve engineered the ruin of your own house. In ruining others you’ve ruined yourself. You’ve undermined your foundations, rotted out your own soul. The bricks of your house will speak up and accuse you. The woodwork will step forward with evidence.”

Habakkuk 2:9-11 MSG

Anecdotally, in my area this morning’s shopping activities were quite light.

I suspect we’ve finally tired of the stupid mobs and are doing much more online.

Also, Millennials aren’t into holiday commercialism, and I suspect their elders are reciprocating.
