I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the New York Times
The Free Beacon ^ | 11/13/2019 | Anonymous

Posted on 11/20/2019 8:31:55 PM PST by Beave Meister

Since Donald Trump won the 2016 election, America's paper of record has become a house organ for his resistance. Pet issues like polyamory have received too much attention, while important issues like Hunter Biden's corruption have received scant follow up.

That's how the New York Times looks from the outside. From the inside, it looks much worse.

Most other Timesfolk don't know us. We do not participate in the paper's Slack channels or town hall meetings. After new software was installed to gauge what the paper's staff was reading online, we have begun to print out copies off site of Bret Stephens and Ross Douthat columns. Inside the paper's bureaus and newsroom, these printouts are a kind of samizdat, reminding us of what America's most important newspaper could be, but too often isn't.

We are not the deep news. We are the steady news. We do what we can to prevent the Times from publishing errors, fictions, and ideological imbecility. We have sabotaged style rules and regulations when we can to save what's left of the Times‘s integrity. But it is an uphill struggle and one I fear we may not win.

In 2018, the Times came very close to eliminating all gendered pronouns in their news copy. A similar proposal, which required the preferred pronouns for bylined reporters and subjects of news stories, nearly became house style had our team not stolen the proposal from Dean Baquet's desk last summer.

The damage to the newspaper is terminal.

Credibility is almost impossible to recover once lost.

The entire editorial and reporting staff would need to be fired before any improvement could begin to be possible.

The guy should stop trying.

The Eeeeew Yuck Slimes is like that 1987 Ford Escort your neighbor still tries to use a daily driver. It’s hopelessly outdated and mechanically nearly unrepairable.

Let the Eeeew Yuck Slimes put its self out of its misery.

Wow. I am humbled by this man’s honesty and fearlessness and perseverance. May his lot increase, and may his star shine brighter. (Bowing).

I agree with you. IF this is in fact true. Given that it is the NY Slimes I have my suspicions that this could just as well be a ploy.

That said, in the end even if true it doesn’t really matter.

The Slimes reputation for extreme bias goes all the way back to WWII. Where they were a mouth organ for the NAZI’s. Publishing numerous articles denying the atrocities of the Nazi’s.

Those people he describes IF they exist obviously do not know any of the history of that NYC fish wrap.

The NY Times embrace of socialism and Marxism goes back before WW2 to The Russian Communists and Stalin’s American cheerleader , Times journalist Walter Duranty.

Credibility is almost impossible to recover once lost.

I've often stated similar, only in terms of an asset:

"The ONLY asset of a news organization is its credibility ... once credibility is lost, it has NO assets"

“Credibility is almost impossible to recover once lost.”

...How can you lose something you never had in the first place?

We hope that the Times will rediscover its mission of performing excellent and fearless journalism after the Trump presidency ends in 2025. Until then, please know that there are still editors and reporters at the old gray lady who put paper first.

The brave person who wrote this is in my prayers...Stay safe brave one - and save the profession - it's NOT just the Times - it's almost all of 'em...

You are indeed correct. I use WWII as a marker because I have found most people, even supposedly well informed peoples knowledge doesn’t go much beyond WWII. If it even approaches that far in history.

I listened to Limbaugh this week. He was absent on Monday. He related that he was asked to address a class of College students at a Prestigious Conservative University and he was astonished at the lack of knowledge of the atrocities regarding Communism the students had at this Very Conservative Institution of Higher Learning.

His point was if, students at a very Conservative Institution, presumably from Conservative families, attending Conservative primary and High Schools are so very IGNORANT of the atrocities of Communism, imagine the IGNORANCE of the average HS student in the average Gov’t HS.

Limbaugh’s point was, the fascination of the young with Socialism/Communism is due entirely to the fact that True Socialism/Communism is not being taught in Gov’t Schools.

In fact, what is being taught is a Glamorization of Socialism/Communism. And, the young Skulls full of Mush are being Indoctrinated into this and are buying it Hook, Line and Sinker.

“The Slimes reputation for extreme bias goes all the way back to WWII. “

Far further than that. Water Duranty was covering up man-made mass starvation in the Ukraine, and Stalin’s purges in the 1930s.

He “won” a Pulitzer prize for his USSR coverage.

I recently saw something on line at one these indoctrination centers( a college) the snowflakes are upset (aren't they always?) that they have to learn WW2 history because it triggers ‘’negative emotional responses in them’’.

The single greatest, cataclysmic , life altering event in human history, The Second World War, is too much for these kids to handle. Good God. I knew dozens of WW2 veterans, a few among them who were in college at the time when they were called up but most were just average kids who were working jobs, a good many of them the sole bread winner for a family during the Great Depression because of a father who abandoned the household and they went off and saved the world. And these overly sensitive, ungrateful little bastards can't handle learning of their sacrifice.

Amazing how the left wants to control EVERYTHING about a person's life.

Dems are such control freaks.

No dissent allowed.

Samizdat: (Russian: “self-publishing”)
...was a form of dissident activity across the Eastern Bloc
in which individuals reproduced censored and underground publications by hand
and passed the documents from reader to reader...
