Which Countries Use The Most Electricity On a Per Capita Basis?
STATISTA ^ | 11/11/2019 | by Niall McCarthy

Posted on 11/12/2019 8:08:53 AM PST by SeekAndFind

In 2017, global electricity consumption increased 2.5 percent to reahch 25,721 Twh. When it comes to consumption, China uses the most of any country at 25.9 percent, followed by the United States with 17.5 percent. On a per capita basis, the situation is different, however. According to the IEA Atlas of Energy, electricity consumption in Iceland was 54.4 megwatt hours per capita in 2017, the highest level of any country.

That's primarily due to abundant natural resources that make electricity production affordable along with energy-intensive industries. The harsh and dark Icelandic climate also contributes to heavy demand for electricity. The situation is similar in Norway which comes second with 23.7 megawatt hours per capita. Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait follow due to considerable demand for air conditioning.

Doesn’t matter. All Americans (except people of ‘color’, feminists, Democrat/Socialist politicians, LBGT, and illegals/”undocumented citizens”) need to die or live like neanderthals. No other choice..

“In its continued refusal to support & grow electric supply & generation industries, the US lags far behind European and Arab nations”.

“Sources within the Trump administration, who wish to remain anonymous, describe this as yet another, racist attack on gay, lesbian, transgendered, people of color, immigrants and other vulnerable communities “.

I want Greta's house cut off the grid. Everything. Power. Water. Everything.

It gets cold in the Scandinavian countries.

On TV you constantly see ads with wind turbines and solar panels on every house in a community(UGLY!)

Those sources have bad outcomes not totally free of issues

Yes I know this is racist and all the other stuff attack.

Yep.

Keeping warm and keeping cool. Iceland has geothermal power, so the electricity is dirt cheap.

It stands to reason. Most of the top countries, other than Luxemborg, are among the coldest in the winter or hottest countries, where cooling and heating interior spaces takes more energy than most other countries.

On the other hand, I can only think a lot of Russian buildings are not heated very well in the winter, for with their energy supplies and extremely cold winters, their electricity consumption must also be high. Even on total energy consumption per capita, which includes all fuel sources, Russia does not rank among the highest, while most of the those ranking at the top of electricity consumption per capita also rank among the top in total energy consumption, per capita. I guess Russia MUST sell so much of its energy, as it is not a big exporter in industrial or consumer goods.

However, in terms of total energy consumption, the U.S. ranks right up there among the top ten.

Hahahahahahahaha!

I feel that way about all these people and groups who are pushing man-caused climate change. They should all have their meter cut off.

If I lived up in Scandinavia, like little Greta, I would be happy for global warming. Heck, I live in the Midwest and wish for global warming, especially on a day like today. Warmer weather is good for me and for humanity in general. It is pathetic and sad that people even give a $#!+ what a brainwashed little girl thinks.

Yep. Very key factor. I had an Aunt and Uncle who lived in Boise, Idaho along a geothermal vane, $40 monthly to heat during the winter. Most of that was standard charges for delivery. IOW, if they REALLY conserved heat, it might be $38.

We're just behind the UAE and just ahead of Taiwan. Every country in the bottom 10 could be accurately described as a $#*+hole country.

Per Einstein and assuming I did my units correctly there are 22,695,837,847Mwh in a short ton and 24,965,421,632Mwh in a metric ton.

Greta would know what per capita vs total consumption means. And she wouldn't care.

Greta knows that the USA is bad, white males are to blame and the sun does not generate any heat to the earth, it is all American made. Period.
