I use FB all the time but I stay out of the political forums. DU band conservatives and FR zots leftists because they know no minds will ever be changed and all you do is waste time and bandwidth. FB is no different so I don’t waste my time.

You are still supporting them. They make money off of your presence on their platform. The only way to get around this is to use their platform anonymously, and most people do not have the technical skills to do that. Do you use a private window, a VPN and delete your history regularly? If not, they are following you around on the internet and selling your browser habits to whoever will pay. The only way to hurt them is to drop them entirely. If you persist in using FB, then do not complain. You are part of the problem.
