The idea of human royalty is ridiculous.
I recently finished a history of Japan. Not sure I know more now than I did before reading it. A very convoluted and strange story.
To misquote Churchill’s description of Russia, Japan is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.
I was living in Japan in 1989 when Emperor Hirohito died. The entire nation pretty much shut down for 3-4 days. Quite the event.
