Some of my ancestors came to the US in the 1840s and 50s thanks to a different kind of potato diet.

Eat the ENTIRE potato, skin and the small eyes after scrubbing off adhering dirt, and drink skim milk (for the balanced proteins), and that assures virtually all the basic nutrients are supplied.

The Irish often survived on little more.

He may be thinner, but he doesn’t look healthier. Lacks muscle definition, which is probably lack of protein.

Emphasizes a point I made in another thread.

You can eat Carbs, or you can eat Fat. You cannot eat both at high levels.

But, while your body can manufacture carbs, from other sources, the body cannot manufacture Essential Fatty Acids on its’ own. So I choose Fats (especially Fats high in Omega-3s).

Potatoes also have a hidden ingredient: resistant starches.

These are starches not digested until they get to your colon, where they feed the healthy digestive bacteria and cells.

This is why just boiling potatoes is best, because when they are cooked, and cooled, it converts much of the regular starch into resistant starch.

The Martian diet. He looks as bad as Matt Damon did in that movie as well. He also looks paler, kind of like Morgan Spurlock’s veggie girlfriend in that anti-McDonalds movie. Looks like he could use a rare steak with his potatoes.

Very very stupid.

And, he didn’t eat only potatos. (No E, in honor of Dan Quayle) He ate herbs, chili/barbecue sauce, soy “milk.” Beer.

Still, very very stupid.

I read about a man who ate one dozen eggs, and nothing else his entire adult life. His cholesterol was low.
Eggs are the single most nutritious food there is.

I love potatoes, but I’d need some butter, depending on how they were prepared.
Fastest way I know of to lose weight is keto, or very low carb. I’ve lost a lot of weight on it, but as soon as I eat normally again, I gain it back. Right now, I’ve decided to eat what I want, and walk 3 times a week, not quite a mile. I lost 35 or 40 lbs that way several years ago, in about 6 months. Now that the mosquitoes are gone, I can get out and walk; I can’t enjoy the outdoors much in the summer, because the mosquitoes eat me alive, and I’m intolerant of insect repellent, not that it helps much, anyway.
