Tempers flare as millions in California endure power outages from PG&E
LA Times ^ | October 10. 2019 | Taryn Luna, Maria L. La Ganga, Patrick McGreevy, Joseph Serna

Classes were canceled. Frozen foods melted. Hospitals switched to emergency generators. Blooms withered in florists’ coolers. Unused food was jettisoned at shuttered restaurants. Lines formed at gas stations. Cellphones faded out. That’s what happened Wednesday when the state’s largest utility shut off power to millions of Californians in a drastic attempt to avoid the killer wildfires that have charred hundreds of thousands of acres, caused billions of dollars in damage and spurred cries for widespread change in how electricity is delivered over the state’s aging grid.

This is what you get from worshiping the forests for 40 years.

No, this is what you get when you ignore due dillegence in care of the forests. I heard some news reader say that the Company was accountable because they hadn't trimmed back trees around the power lines. Were they allowed to do that? I believe the "Greens" won't let you do proper thinning out of dead or diseased trees, or removing a tree or two because they are placed too close together; or, even removing dead wood and leaves on the forest floor (something that could be called "kindling"). So, I think they will be blamed for something that the policies of the "Greens" and blue-state Pols caused.

Yes, but charging one's phone is necessary. No power, no charge, no phone.

Welll....you can hand crank a charge into them. My wife has done it. You could also use your vehicles USB charger...there are options. Preparedness is the key.

So what are they doing about the schools with these power outages, having the kids stay home?

You bring up something interesting; those schools are not going to get matching Federal funds for the kids NOT in school. Another setback due to the policies of leftists.

I presume the servers are in Fresno where FR originated in the Central Valley (the Trump-country portion of Venezfornia.)

LOL. Get back to me when it goes on a week for the 4th or 5 th time. Ask people from South Africa how “fun” it is to have blackouts all the time.

It was been a boon for me. My Generac stock is up about 10 dollars a share the last 2days.

Interesting.

I have a friend who lives in a small community and she told me that they have a generator in times of outages so that the community is not without electricity. I believe she’s about an hour outside of San Francisco.

Greta should be so proud.

Back in the day, we’d have walked to school and carried on as usual. Today, walking to school is beneath kids today and they can’t have school because there’s no air conditioning. We would open a window but today’s schools have windows that don’t open. Makes so much sense when they’re trying to push green.

I bet all of those generators are creating more emissions than the utility...:^)

This happened before, years ago, and it was why Arnold got elected. They had outages and rolling brown outs. Libs blamed the power companies, but it was their oppressive policies that caused it.

Time to bring out the old slogan for the governor that I heard on the Hugh Hewitt show:

"Gavin Newsome, the tunnel at the end of the light"

FYI, the voter fraud that has given CA the RAT scum in office could very well be infecting where you live next.

No one I talk to voted for the RAT scum who have taken over CA. Do a Google search and find out how much voter fraud exists in CA. LA County just had to wipe 1.5 million off their voter rolls thanks to Tom Fitton. Then read about the DMV scandal that put close to a million illegals on the voter rolls. The people of CA, New York, and the rest of the Blue States are filled with voter fraud; not by choice.

What needs to happen is for the state to take over PG&E and run it themselves. < /do I really need a sarcasm tag? >

I, too, remember those days of walking to school and having open windows.

Are the stupids going to get upset when their paychecks are short because they couldn’t drive to work because they couldn’t plug in their toy cars or pump gas for their SUVs?

Who will they sue when grandma dies because her medical devices had no juice?

The stupids in mom’s basement will go postal when they can’t play video games all day.

This is a great time for gangs and thieves since security cameras aren’t working.

Was there a run on grocery stores for food staples or for ammo anywhere but Dick’s? I never saw mention of that here or on tv.

Go back and look at the RED counties in CA during the 2016 presidential campaign. Trump got a lot of CA voters.

Then look at the illegals that the RATs used in 2016 and look at the 1.5 million that just LA county had to wipe off their rolls thanks to Tom Fitton.

Deport all illegals and there will be a HUGE drop in electricity usage.

I’ve got the popcorn ready for when they turn the power back on. They did that here around the Austin, TX area a few years ago and many transformers blew. Yep, sparks and fires are just what Kalifornica needs. Then there will be areas where they forget to turn it back on.
