Ellen DeGeneres addressed the backlash she received over the weekend after she was spotted laughing with former President George W. Bush at a Dallas Cowboys football game against the Green Bay Packers in Dallas, Texas.
Photos circulated of the pair sitting together in the owners suite, which prompted some on social media to question why she would be hanging out with the former president, whose politics run counter to hers.
They thought, Why is a gay Hollywood liberal sitting next to a conservative Republican president?, DeGeneres said in a clip from the Ellen DeGeneres Show. A lot of people were mad. And they did what people do when theyre mad: they tweet.
Rather than focusing on the negative, DeGeneres shared a positive tweet that read, Ellen and George Bush together makes me have faith in America again.
Heres the thing: Im friends with George Bush, she explained of the former president, who was previously a guest on her show in 2017. In fact, Im friends with a lot of people who dont share the same beliefs that I have. Were all different and I think weve forgotten that thats OK that were all different.
For instance, I wish people wouldnt wear fur. I dont like it, but Im friends with people who wear fur, the host continued, adding, But just because I dont agree with someone on everything doesnt mean that Im not going to be friends with them. When I say be kind to one another, I dont mean only the people that think the same way that you do. I mean be kind to everyone.
And “mowing the lawn”.
Good grief!!! Ellen finally said something I can agree with.
I may need help.
Thank God we didn’t get saddled with Jeb. The Bushs’ did their sharing of screwing up the country.
To some, cave-artist globalist neocon sellout backstabbers ARE still "conservatives".
...lack of oxygen to the brain or run-out-of-laxative types, mostly.
They are trying to decide if Texas is in play and should they go Hillary - Castro or go Hillary - Michele
I think you are over thinking it.
I think Ellen means what she said - it’s O.K. to be on friendly terms with people you may have some disagreements with on any number of issues.
I think Ellen does not ascribe to the Leftist view of “diversity”, a view that excludes anyone who disagrees with them, be it on “gay” matters or anything else.
I accept that from her. That does not mean I necessarily will alway agree with her, but I don’t have to be unkind toward her if I were with her somewhere.
LOL are the Fake News Media still trying to tell us B*sh is a conservative ?
There aint a licks worth of difference between Bush, Obama and Clinton !
What ever happened to satan monkey mcBushHitler?
The very definition of "sycophant".
:-/
Of course the fags at Rolling Stone would miss the highlight of the afternoon at Jerry World. Mainly how badly the Cowboys shat the king sized against the Packers.
ellen’s really funny. My favorite joke in the article is when she refers to Bush as a “conservative Republican”. Hilarious!
LOL! Very quick my FRiend.
Liberals love conservatives when they are no longer a threat.
Everybody loved Bob Dole after he lost to Clinton.
Yup. He is definitely not conservative.
When did it become some sort of sin to socially interact with someone with differing politics? From everything that I have heard about Dubya, he’s a lot of fun to be around.
“Photos circulated of the pair sitting together in the owners suite, which prompted some on social media to question why she would be hanging out with the former president, whose politics run counter to hers.”
BIG lie, Big Media.
W and family overtly switched sides after BJ’s wife lost big time.
see The Resistance, Maxine Waters, etc
bingo...
GW Bush is the idiot. I do not associate with sexual deviants.
