First movie or TV adaptation, not counting the horrid direct to DVD version that was slapped together to take advantage of Spielberg's movie, that takes place in the setting where Wells set his novel. Prefer Miss Tomlinson in Late Victorian/Edwardian dress than Georgian dress from "Poldark"

The 2005 Hollywood version stunk on ice IMO. Those 2 kids needed a serious butt whoopin’.
HG Wells original. ..what a classic.

I’m issuing a spoiler. In the end the alien invaders all die from a virus because they forgot to get their flu shots before they set off for earth........

I loved the Spielberg version, but hated the screeching girl and Tim Robbin’s character. The aliens were terrifying.

Another favorite movie of mine is “The Day of the Triffids,” which has been done a couple of times as mini-series. It’s been 10 years since the last version. Also, Mark Gattiss, and Steve Moffat (Sherlock series) are creating a 3-Part Dracula mini-series.

I own the 1953 version, which is the best, IMO. Sylvia van Buren is a fox!

Let me guess. In this version the heroes are all women or non whites, and all the white males are useless.

I love the book, and prefer the 1953 George Pal version. I own it on DVD.
That movie helped to establish the entire serious science-fiction genre.

I loved the Spielberg Cruise version. For some reason Cruise does GREAT sci fi movies....Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow...

Looks fantastic! I was in London in late August, and had a ticket to an interactive stage experience of War of the Worlds - more than a stage, a presentation in a 22,000 square foot building. It was canceled at the very last minute and I received a phone call and a refund. Wonder if the cancellation was due to conflict with this.
