Yeah, the article is dated, but the exodus continues.

New York is losing its middle class, and now even some of its more affluent residents.

I’m gone as soon as I decide on a place in PA.

I like the cool weather and autumn a lot so south isn’t an option.

But NY has lost its collective mind

My cousin spent his entire working life on the NYPD. Growing up, the city was the best place in the world. NEVER thought he’d leave, not in a million years... Left the day after he retired, lol. Moved to NC.

New York is the perfect example of a socialist state and what happens eventually in a socialist country.

Yeah, I’d move out if I lived there.

1) It’s a Sanctuary City, Rapists and Murderers are being released there to prey on the public once more. High crime rates are taking their toll.

2) High Taxes - City and State is about 9% for an average income. 12.6% “Millionaire”. With the Tax Cut, state income taxes were capped at 10,000. This exposed the high taxation, hence the desire to escape them..

3) War on Business. Amazon’s proposed relocation to the area was vilified by the regions Democratic Politicians. With a climate change agenda looming. Businesses are moving out of the New York city area to more favorable areas. Can you blame them?

4) Coddling Terrorists - New York area Democrats have proposed trying terrorists from Gitmo there. Along with the Sanctuary city status, the chance of Terrorists being acquitted and released there is very real. Not only this but it attracts domestic ones like Antifa as well. Being beat up or blown up; it’s your choice.

5) Gender pronoun enforcement is coming soon. Do you want to raise your kids there is a very real question. Boys posing as girls can rape them in the schools. Boys posing as girls beat them in sports, If I were a mother in the New York area, I WOULD FLEE WITH MY CHILDREN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

6) Health care for Illegals, The area is to become a Magnet for sick illegals from all over the world. Think Drug Resistant TB and other strange diseases. And say goodbye to your jobs as Business pay less for them than for You!

7) War on Christianity, particularly on the Catholic Church. War on Catholic Hospitals, Schools and Adoption agencies abound. Holy Matrimony is increasingly shunned there and it’s only going to get worse.

8) The future there looks bleak. It is following San Francisco down a stinky path.

The bad news is, they’re coming South, and bringing their politics with them.

As an escapee from what became an open cesspool of a city, I have often wondered why Wall Street remains in Manhattan. Given that the computer age has transformed the way banking and investing is done, I’d think the physical location of the industry could be just about anywhere.

I don’t own a home anymore, sold it 5 years ago and built living quarters upstairs in the mfg. plant where I build my bar stools and restaurant seating.

I grew up in New York. My Dad lived there until he passed away last year. My sisters live there.

It is the best example I can think of of a frog that was cooked so slowly that it didn’t jump out before it was dead. I’m sure that NJ, MD, Illinois and above all California are also excellent examples, but I remember my childhood and adolescence in NY so well that every little violation of the natural rights of the poor people who still live there sticks in my craw.

I just got back from a trip to France. Their socialism dwarfs the socialism of New York, Their public works and public benefits at least serve the people (and no, I prefer freedom where I live).

But socialism in NY is purely destructive. The subways and the trains are horrible. The bridges and roads are crumbling. Crime is exploding. The rules are for the little people, the benefits are for the elites.

Again, for the millionth time. Those of us in civilization do not want the west coast/east coast freaks messing things up.

Stay where you are. Your weather is perfect. Your food is perfect. Your restaurants are perfect. No, you don't need guns. Guns are de debil! All is well.

Stay in the utopia you've already created!

More than 1 million people moved out of the New York area to other parts of the country since 2010, a rate of 4.4 percent — the highest negative net migration rate among the nation’s large population centers, US Census records show

Like rats carrying the black death they're spreading the plague of liberalism/socialism wherever they go. They're fleeing, but taking their voting habits (overwhelmingly Democrat) with them.

“People Are Fleeing New York At An Alarming Rate”

The only thing alarming is if they are democrats and continue to be democrats in their new states.

Good news, and bad news.

The good news is that people are leaving the NY metropolitan area.

The bad news is that those people don’t leave their politics behind and continue voting liberal in the places they move to. Thus, we have places like Florida going from read to purple and eventually blue. Stupid is as stupid does.

What needs to move is the way people think. They would not have to move from places like NY if they changed their voting habits.
