IMHO: to ensure an unbiased investigation/trial, any and all senators or congressional reps running for president must recuse themselves from any Trump investigation or subsequent senate trial should it go that far. Obvious conflict of interest.
Either that or put if off until after the coming election. Let we the people decide.

Impeachment has not ever come up in previous Democrat presidential debates. I’m sure it will be discussed in future debates. And all of the Democrat candidates will have to talk about impeachment, rather than their plans for universal healthcare, wealth taxes, open borders, green new deals and the like.
Impeachment will infect the presidential campaign for sure.
Are they happy about this? Are they actually happy with this turn of events, with impeachment sucking all the oxygen out of the room? Perhaps they are, because then the fact that they are pushing unpopular issues such as open borders will be overshadowed, as the election becomes totally a referendum on Trump, and not a judgement about whichever Democrat emerges as the nominee.
I saw a report on a news program last night, I can’t recall which, where it was reported that Schiff said if Trump refuses any subpoena related to the “impeachment inquiry”, then that will be Obstruction of Justice, and Trump will be impeached for that.
These people are not going to stop.
They see that 4 more years of Trump are coming, and I think they will do absolutely anything to stop that from happening, up to and including the worst possible scenario imaginable, which I will leave unstated.
Senators Warren, Sanders, Harris, Booker, etc, all want Trump’s job. They cannot possibly act as unbiased jurors.

We are in a period of asymmetrical warfare. It would seem that the Democrats are willing to do anything to have power over the country.
Somewhere I read that because this was not official, they have no legal investigative powers.
