Andy Partridge of XTC, probably my favorite band of all, has really gone off the deep-end on Twitter lately.

Of course I know he’s been a militant atheist for years after hearing “Dear God”, but he’s been posting a lot of anti-Israel stuff lately on Twitter. The irony is, the song that “Dear God” replaced on Skylarking “Mermaid Smiled” is one of my favorite Partridge compositions.

Oh well, like they say, my record collection would be empty if I only listened to people who agree with me.

You’d still have The Ramones. So there’s that.

The Who is an iconic band and Millions love them but To me...eh...
yea i like a couple of songs but i have never really got into them that much.
One of the worst concerts i ever went to was the Who at Gillette stadium in Foxboro, MA probably around 1990 +/- a few years.
Outdoor stadium, it was raining hard and i was sitting in probably the worst and very farthest seat available.
The farthest back corner on the top most row.
The concert lasted over 2 hours....i was soaked wet to the bone.
To the real fans that show was probably awesome but to me?......
ARGHHHH!!

That’s “working without a net”! One may be critical of Roger’s singing (I’m not) but there’s no denying that he would wail back in his prime.

I think he’s actually got a good voice for the type of music they sing, but as with most front men, the voice can not be all you bring. He does a good job, it’s just that his voice is not in the “amazing” category. And that’s ok.

What are some of the BEST concerts you’ve seen. If you don’t mind my asking.

I seem to recall an effort to take Tommy to Broadway. A Rolling Stone critic panned the symphonic production values, saying that there was something about rock-n-roll that confounded skill, and yielded only to genius.

Agreed. I came away from Roger’s liking him even more than I had previously, but with Pete’s it was exactly the opposite.

“Imagine a Man” is one of Daltrey’s best vocal performances IMHO.

They played that yesterday. Sweet.

The flip side of dedication to putting the show on is illustrated by Tom Petty getting a broken hip on the road and masking his pain with meds. That led to a fatal overdose.
