Also, the dog wasn't feigning fainting. What it was doing was submitting and asking the nail clipper to not cause harm. Dogs will roll over and submit in this way when they want to demonstrate passivity and pleading.

I think it was at the dog training class where they had us work with our pup to get used to handling his paws, ears, tail, etc.
Now at 80 pounds our mutt will let us (and the vet) do anything to him. He makes a noise once in awhile when we have to clean out his ear (gets a rash, bleeds, etc.) just to let us know it hurts, but he sits quietly for it.
Awhile ago he got skewered in the leg by a branch - missed a big artery by just a little bit. And right near his privates. I was a bit nervous at first with that when we had to tend to his would twice a day. It was swollen, red - obviously hurt - and near his privates!
Same thing. He made a sound letting us know it hurt. More of a groan than a growl. Of course he does get a treat after it all - so that helps!
Someone should write a scene in a movie just for this dog.

My daughter has a Staffordshire Terrier. They have a slightly different shaped face/nose than what is generally thought of as pit bull, but yep, they are pittys. The variations that constitute the "terrier/pit bull" category is surprisingly large.

They are pit bull, just a slightly different version. Same disposition. Velcro dogs. Although my daughter's is fearless in some ways, she won't get into the kitchen trash because when the bag crinkles it scares her LOL.
Some days I wonder about that when I read the liberal courts tyranny of the day.

Actually, I think the dog was NOT pretending to faint. It was doing what it needed to counter what it knows is a stressful situation - it went limp with total relaxation. I wish my dogs had learned to do that.
Today there are knew pet grooming tools that do not clip the nail, but instead apply a very small battery operated grinding wheel tool, that just gently grinds the end of the nail down.

Mine doesn't like anything mechanical or things that make loud (to her) noises. Like people; she avoids things she doesn't understand. Not really a fear; an avoidance.
