I blame the parents and the education system.
I’ve seen kids here that are tiny, then you see what their parents let them get away with nutritionally - which is to say they get little with no objection from the parent.
but eating wasn’t all he was doing if my mother was right...
he should have stopped when he needed glasses.
Nobody could have seen this coming.
In my younger days, I couldn’t stand to eat mashed potatoes. They would make my stomach contract as if I was about to vomit (but I never did). And yes, it was their texture that did it. I still hate them to this day, but there’s no one forcing me to eat them.
He said that people didn’t need meat anymore so dogs shouldn’t either. He didn’t know much about nutrition. Being vegetarian didn’t go well for him. He’s not a vegetarian anymore.
You’d better not be Irish...
Is he still a Democrat?
a.k.a "not enough beer"
For me it was okay to eat mashed potatoes UNTIL or IF I hit one lump. At that point, then yes, I was in near vomit mode. Fortunately as I’ve aged I slowly overcame that reaction. Have no idea where it originated.
Yet to this day I prefer virtually any other style of potato over mashed.
When I hosted Thanksgiving or Christmas I always prepared parsleyed potatoes in olive oil and butter. YUM!
I bet there were other factors involved (I only did it until I needed glasses...)
That’s a pretty unnatural diet. Most dog people think a raw diet cures allergies (and that the allergies are more about what else is in the dog food). I’ve tried feeding raw in the short term and all I can say is that it was fabulous. If I couldn’t get a premixed meat, I’m not sure I would have kept feeding it.
YES!
Well at least he didn’t go blind pulling his put

Sounds a lot like one of my roommates from that era, ate so many carrots she had a distinct orange tint. I wonder if it was the same chick, German gal, perchance?
“I blame his parents for giving in to him.”
Interestingly enough, there is no mention of parents in the article.
I did not give my children the option of leaving the table without eating a balanced meal, so “picky eating” was simply not permitted. Biggest problem here in America is giving young children a taste for sweet at an early age. If they get hungry enough, they will eat proper food. We often give in too easily between 18 months and 3 years, and that can start the cycle of bad eating habits.
Doesn’t matter, we did the best we could with her (as the dermatologist eulogized in their sympathy card to us), and she was BAD from the GET-GO. She was just a tiny puppy when I got her from a breeder and itchy as hell, never grew adult hair since she was scratching sides all the time.
By a year she went to the dermatologist (my sister’s Shepherd also had some allergies hence) and while it was EXTREMELY expensive and difficult her entire life, she at least looked great her whole life after that (no one knew by looking at her how bad she was).
I don’t buy any of that cure-all snake-oil stuff. It does not apply to everyone anyway. Raw doesn’t matter - animal protein, period. We had the best food available - Innovative Veterinary Diets (IVD) - now owned by Royal Canin.
I always say anyone wants advice on allergic dogs - mail me. No one has the experience we do. “Worst allergic dog ever.”
OK, I wish her the best. Hopefully she can find enough to like to stay healthy
