Do you know what's in CBD products? I-Team tests them out in lab

CBD is now legal with no prescription necessary, but it's also largely unregulated, which means consumers don't always know what they're getting.

CBD is derived from cannabis or hemp, but it contains very little or no THC so it does not make you high. Some people said it helps with a wide range of ailments from pain to anxiety.

"Everyone is just trying to jump on the bandwagon. You have grocery stores, gas stations, liquor stores and corner stores that are selling this stuff," said Nicholas Patrick, owner of Embrace CBD Wellness Center in Glen Burnie.

Many retailers are selling CBD products, but no one is regulating them.

"That's absolutely true. At this current moment, there are no (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) guidelines, no FDA restrictions. They have a very loose enforcement policy. So, when you're buying CBD, you could be taking a potentially harmful product," Patrick said.

Ointment - 3 times a day until the jar was used up.

I’m getting old, 67, and a lot of unexplained pains show up. I had a shoulder pain that came and went. Went to all manner of specialists to no avail. It was hard to live with that pain. My PCP doc gave me a regimen of Prednisone, about 6 days. It was a miracle. It’s a steroid. You can only take it periodically. I take it twice per year whether I need it or not.

You can’t tell Marijuana smokers that anything remotely related it isn’t pure Magic.

LOL

I use it for migraines and it does help. It won't knock out a very bad one but definitely makes it bearable. Emergency rooms will not help me with any pain relief since the big ass "CRISIS" has been going on. And yea, I hate them all.

They can keep their CBD :D

I don't fault the poster.

However, it's considered a common courtesy to the reader to begin an article by spelling out the full name (sometimes with a description or explanation) before referring to it by an abbreviation or acronyms.

My wife had to have both knees operated on about a dozen years ago. There’s no cartilage left in them, it had worn down into what the surgeon described as ‘wet sand’. She got on that tumeric kick, and orders it online. She swears it helps. But she also takes Tramadol, so what the hell does she know, and how? LOL

Glass of water is what I’ve said, too. Didn’t think it’d work but since high powered prescription pain killers and everything else under the sun didn’t work, hubby thought this couldn’t hurt. Checked it off the list and lesson learned.

My Dr. told me about so I tried. It did not work at first so I used more and got some results. Bromelaine helps also. An anti inflammation diet how ever it is achieved helps.

CBD works for some types of pain and not others and definitely not for acute pain such as after a fall. But for chronic pain that is a good candidate you should use 50mg or 100 mg in your initial test. Some people take 10 or 25 and pronounce it worthless. I buy CBD only directly from a big distributor who does nothing but CBD. Also vape it which seems much more potent to me than orally. (Yes, I know the vaping controversy).

Awesome! I would not wish this issue on anyone.

Glad you’re 10 years in and doing well!

Bless you!

Tramadol gave me horrid headaches but did nothing for the knee. Tried everything under the sun and nothing has helped. I KNOW it’s a torn meniscus or something along that line but the specialists poo poo it off as arthritis. Funny, I don’t think it’s arthritis when you’re fine and suddenly your knee snaps and you’re in constant pain. The knee cap did a free floating thing for 8-9 years until I finally did some muscle tightening on my own and it not pretty much stays in one place but it slips out every so often. But that hasn’t reduced the pain. You can see exactly where the injury is because there’s a constant bruise and little broken blood vessels.

CBD without a THC component is basically worthless.
CBD from hemp is about 8 times less effective than CBD from THC.
CBD with a THC component will only be available in States with medical or recreational marijuana.

Get the real thing in a vape oil and go for a few days. You will see relief as the CBD does take a little time to build in the system.

Maybe they should give everyone over 60 yrs. old low-dose, low-price steroids. It really does make you feel great.

And it wouldn’t be like giving to 20 or 30 yr. olds who might worry about getting addicted. At 60+ just enjoy feeling better!

“CBD from hemp is about 8 times less effective than CBD from THC.”

Should have said “CBD from hemp is about 8 times less effective than CBD from MARIJUANA.”

Unfortunately, her knees were so far gone when she hit forty that they told her she needed to have both of them replaced. She lived with the pain a few more years, until it got so bad, she finally went to an orthopedic surgeon and had the repair surgery scheduled. She's the type who will wait until she's incapacitated before she has the replacements done. It runs in her family. By the time her mother had reached forty, she'd already had both knees and both hips replaced.

If you take CBD and must take a work-related mandated drug test, you may not pass. “I use CBD oil” is not an adequate defense.

CBD oil is legal but not regulated by the FDA. It may contain small levels of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, and therefore may be detectable in a drug test.

Someone I met recently told me their truck-driver friend lost his commercial driver’s license after failing a drug test. He had been using CBD oil, but otherwise says he is not a drug user.

It bothers me that this product is showing up everywhere, in everything, and at this rate it will soon be difficult to avoid inadvertently ingesting.

Ouch. Tramadol is one of those funny CDS drugs that has a wide range of effects, non-effects, and side effects on people. I’m disabled to the point where my doctor wants me to use a walker around the house, or a cane if I go out. I’ve fallen about four times in the last year, and twice I’ve had to go to the radiologist to determine what I fractured, or if it’s a muscle tear. My primary doctor is very gun shy about perscribing anything like hydrocodone or Dilaudid. Once he only gave me a script for Valium as a muscle relaxant after I fell four feet off the porch and landed flat on my back. Tramadol has a somewhat working effect on me, so I will pinch a couple of my wife’s when necessary.

I bought a brand that lists all of their information on their website. Everything from the source of the plants down to the ingredient list and all of the clinical trials they conducted. Hell if I can remember the brand, though. The oil also had a very high concentration of CBD, 1500mg per dropper. I had been taking it for insomnia and to treat anxiety related to night terrors. Personally, I found it to be extremely effective in that regard. It also alleviated some of the pain in my left arm.

However, it was not compatible with my transplant medication, and caused toxicity of it, so I had to cease taking it. Just as well, because it tasted awful. I popped a small piece of chocolate after taking it, and that seemed to do the trick.

It comes down to how pure the item is, its source, dosage, and how the oil was extracted and stored. If the company doesn’t share that information on the product itself or their website, then I wouldn’t purchase it. I also recommend buying the oil straight and not in pill form or in a salve, because other inactive ingredients may possibly interfere with the effectiveness of the product. If you’re already a smoker, consumption through vape is feasible, but it should be done sparingly.

CBD with a THC component will only be available in States with medical or recreational marijuana.

Misleading, it's currently not FDA regulated, you don't really don't know what's in CBD oil or how much THC is in it. So making the more powerful THC version available in the "states with medical or recreational marijuana" won't change the fact that other products with drug-test detectable amount of THC may still be sold anywhere, under current law.

I take tramadol for back pain. About 10 years now. Take 1 as soon as I get up and give it about 30 minutes to start my day. I had herniated discs and got hooked on Vicodin in the 3 weeks I took it. When I realized it I flushed them and doc switched me to tramadol for degenerative disc disease and sciatica. It works for me as far as low level pain killers go.

CBD instantly cures anything from hang nails to decapitation.

Yes, there is a bit of snake oil to its claims of efficacy. In reality, along with the legalization of hemp, it’s all about slow-moving acceptance of cannabis in all forms toward final legalization.

And if folks want to use the argument of holistic health remedies for CBD or THC to aid it’s eventual legalization, I’m good with that.

It’s time to move past this ridiculous prohibition.
