He’s been in this bizarre oedipal relationship since he was 15 years old. By all accounts he is extremely narcissistic, and as you point out, he has an over-the-top and theatrical behavior when meeting others, as if needing to prove his “manliness” and dominance.
Didn’t see it, but Trumps a G.A.M. and a winner. I don’t think some handshake is going to bother him much.
Watching the press conference. Thought the joint part went well with both Presidents as it appears the G7 meeting did too. After the joint conference, it was split with each President taking questions separately.
One of the first questions was from a lady reporter and before he got the question he said “here it comes” in a disparging tone. He was right - she asked a question about next years conference in Dural (?) Florida. She asked if the reason it would be held there was because he would make money on it!! He answered that if he wanted to make money, he wouldn’t have run for president as he could have made billions. He said he’s only president because he wants to do good things for the country and goes on to briefly give the economic accomplishments. I don’t know who the woman was, but he clearly recognized her as one of MSM reporters.

President Trump makes me proud to be an American when he is at these conferences. The media attacks him with every question and he handles it. He is good with words and getting his point across.

Thank you for that. Trump was on fire today. Tough when he needed to be. Hopeful when he needed to be and complementary to the G7 leaders he is dealing with. And yes that includes Macron.
Trump is triumphing at this G7. That’s good. All this crap about Macron is very misleading. He may be a twit, but he doesn’t act like one around Trump. Very differential would be my characterization.
What would be helpful would be for Freepers to actually watch the Press Conference before making stupid negative comments.

Moreover, politicians are usually "tactile" people who like to establish contact with others. There are also always questions of dominance and submission in political handshakes.
Shake hands harder or longer and you establish who's boss. The way that body contact can establish dominance may the reason why politicians are such "tactile" creatures.
In any event, it's not so strange or so terribly interesting.
