A new Pew Research Center poll finds that 60% say they have an unfavorable view of China up from 47% last year to the highest proportion since Pew started asking the question 14 years ago.
The survey results being released Tuesday found that 24% of Americans regard China as Americas top threat for the future, the same percentage that said so of Russia. North Korea (12 was the only other country to draw double-digit concern. [ ]
Still, the poll finds that only 41% of Americans believe that Chinas growing economy is a bad thing for the United States, compared with 50% who called it a good thing. Respondents were far more worried about Chinas rising military power: 81% said it was bad, 11% good.
Half said they had no confidence in President Xi Jinping, the same as last year.

It’s at our expense!!!!
I guess I wouldn’t be thrilled with it even if it wasn’t, but what the heck, if it was achieved honestly and kept the peace, fine.
It is NOT achieved honestly and it IS at our expense
Wait until after they purge Hong Kong.
That’s the kind of woke-ness we need.
It’s a Pew poll. Quite astonishing that they’d let this much truth out.
Taiwan? An *entirely* different story.
Hong Kong? Recent events show that at least a fair percentage of the population is respectable/admirable.
True :)
Over the last year I have decided to not buy anything “Made in China” if at all possible.
This does not mean I have not purchased items made in China. However, given the choice, I do not. It used to be difficult with clothes. Now, many items are made in other countries. It is extremely difficult with power tools to buy non Chinese manufactured tools today.
So, I have to believe that other people feel the same way.
It is kind of like people who were against buying Japanese cars back in the 1980’s & 1990’s. I think that buying American is a WINNING Trump MAGA/Keep America Great campaign pitch. People would unite around it.
You do not have to say: don’t buy products from China. Just say buy American if you can. People will understand you mean do not buy “Made in China”.
When Walmart’s sales of those items go down, they will tell their suppliers to give them under ware made in some other country other than China. (my last under ware purchase were Hanes made in the Dominican Republic)
Great post and all true.
Its tough with cars though because even though I bought a Dodge Challenger, who the heck knows where the individual parts were made anymore?
I don’t think China hates us. It’s more like contempt.
We have let them roll over us in the past, and you can’t blame them for taking what is given.
Now they have come to expect it.
It seems vogue to talk about ‘white supremacy’, but if you want to look at racial and cultural contempt, go no father than China. They believe they belong on top of the world, and they have a lot of pride in their history. They also know that their population is a resource, and they are not lacking for natural resources either (something that put a ceiling on Japan’s economy).
It is right for 60% of Americans do not trust China. That number should be higher.
There’s a difference between Red China and the Democrats?
I remember reading an article at one point that the Honda Accord assembled in Ohio was actually made with the highest percentage of USA made parts.
I really like the Challenger and Charger looks. I rented a Charger a few years ago in Boise. People would get out of the way of that car in Idaho because the troopers drive them. They also use them for undercover state police cars.
I made the comment regarding the Chinese made power tools because I bought a Milwaukee cordless drill and driver package at Home Depot after Christmas. I found out that almost all Milwaukee tools are no longer made in Wisconsin. They are made in China and some are still made in Mississippi. Later on I did find out that Dewalt are made in NC.
I would off the bat think power tools were made overseas because of the labor.
What a terrible way to have become conditioned to think.
Interesting about the hondas AND the Chargers.
Did you know that Chargers are the most often stolen car now?
A poll by any other name is still a poll!
If they were of value then Hillary would have been President as they all predicted
Regardless of DJT’s opinion of their president, China is and will be our sworn enemy. How can anyone become friends with a Commie unless one becomes one, himself?
