A good Samaritan possibly saved a womans life on an urban trail in Irvine.
The Jeffrey Open Space Trail, squeezed between Jeffrey Road and Irvine neighborhoods, is used by cyclists, joggers, and walkers
According to police, at around 10 p.m...
There was a man riding a bike, he collided with the woman, knocked her to the ground, and then at that point got off the bike and began to beat her, said Kim Mohr with Irvine Police Department.
According to Mohr, the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
Mohr said that its not uncommon for people to go walking at the trail after dark because it is well-lit and a very safe neighborhood.

Sounds like an accident which led to road rage; very bad to lose one’s temper and the penalty will be painful.
Sigh. Loses me at out alone at 10 PM
When I was working, just out of school, just below Harlem, before Giuliani got things straightened out, I got onto the subway to go downtown. Got on the northbound. Oops.
Had to get off, go overhead then down to the southbound side. That is, before I ended up in the South Bronx
Standing on the platform with me and my new subway buddies are two NYPD in uniform. Looking at me. Shaking their heads
Just for the purpose of not wanting to ever put those guys in as situation again, I wised up and so far. Stayed out of places alone where I did not belong
Running around after 8:30 at night alone is one of them
Therefore this is not an interesting story
Some of grew up where anyone could walk anywhere safely, at any time of day common, even kids. So for those who don’t choose to live in urban shiteholesin order to have similar freedoms today, it is an interesting story.
Irvine is no urban shit hole. If you can’t be safe in Irvine you can’t be safe anywhere.
Even with this incident now known, it’s nice to hear there are still small towns and hamlets in the US, where one can walk around that late without fear. That may change now, but not for everyone. Three cheers for the Good Samaritan, but he’s lucky the Biker didn’t have a knife strapped to his leg so he could fight back and escape into the night.
I have seen where these mountain bikers are aggressive and rude. They think they own the trail. I’m sure there’s good ones but my experience is that most of them are bungholes.
Thank the Lord that I live in such a rural area, but then again, I'm in bed by 9:00pm most nights.
If you cant be safe in Irvine you cant be safe anywhere.
Guess what. Youre not safe anywhere.
L
biker rage IS a thing in Socal and in some cities bikers call the shots In many towns they take two lanes and let bikes share one. So you can be going along nicely in the morning commute and get backed up for a mile because 1 or two bikes are in the right lane and all cars a forming a gore point to merge left to get around 1 bike,. In LA they reduce the car lanes and give the entire lanes to a few bikes.
Unless it's my fiends and family
we need to take back our bike trails, our zoos, our parks, our hiking trails, our beaches, etc...
Kind of surprising in one of the safest towns in the country. But it could happen anywhere.
go visit the Banff canada city web cam.....there’s people out at all times it seems, because I view it frequently, and no one is afraid....
Road rage is a sad fact almost anywhere, but especially in congested areas like Orange County. The sadness is that both the victim and the assailant may be nice people when tempers are held in check. He obviously snapped, and there is no excuse for that assault. I feel sorry for all the victims in this senseless attack, and at least no one was killed or seriously injured. He is going to pay for this, as will anyone in his family.
“I do not trust people anywhere....anymore....
Unless it’s my fiends and family “
I don’t trust your fiends and family...especially your fiends.
Well Irvine is not a safe neighborhood
I grew up in a New York suburb. We could go anywhere at any time. There was no crime -none
I’ve walked those trails at that hour many times. I worked about a mile away, and would take that route home. Irvine is a highly sought-after place to live and the freedom to do such things is part of the reason. However, walking through adjacent Tustin and Santa Ana required some judicious routing, and wouldn’t be smart for young people close to the age of the local predators.
Your first mistake was being in that sewer.
“Well Irvine is not a safe neighborhood”
I lived in Irvine for 22 years and can attest Irvine is a very safe city. An attack like this would be an abnormality. The biggest fear on these trails is running into coyotes.
