Often, I’ve pointed these facts out to a liberal; the response is that the two parties “switched” philosophies at some vague point in time, and the Democrats are actually the party that is not racist, the Repugnant Republicans took over as the racists.
Bizarre people with bizarre views, can’t cite details or proof of amazing “switch”.

It’ll take hours and your eyes will glaze over before they get done. But they will try. And as long as the liberals can convince themselves that the party they support is not, and was never racist, then no logic or reason will do.
Yes, I’ve heard that bizarre “switch” story. The only justification seems to be that it’s ‘cause conservatives are inherently evil and Democrats are all that is good in life. Such child like refusal to accept responsibility.
The “facts” according to Democrats that I have mentioned this to, seem to be that sometime in the 60’s the racist’s left the Democrat party and turned to the Republican party, cause everyone knew that the GOP was the party of racism. Or something.
inconvenient truth is that as late as 2003 Alabama had a Democrat as Governor. He was probably just a holdover from the old racist Democrats though? Of course he’s in jail. Which according to Democrats was a Republican plot against him.
