TSLA was up in the reg day’s trading:

+4.71 (1.81%) - Jul 24, 4:00 PM EDT

In after-hours, through about 8pm it dropped over 29 bucks:

235.70 -29.18 (11.02%) - Jul 24, 7:59 PM EDT After hours

Ford Motor also had a good up day, but lost it all and more during after-hours. As the late Paul Kangas always said, “buy on mystery, sell on history.”

10.33 +0.16 (1.57%) - Jul 24, 4:00 PM EDT
9.76 -0.57 (5.52%) - Jul 24, 7:59 PM EDT After hours

Tesla’s deliveries hit a new record, quality has improved, and even in Michigan, where tiny little Tucker wound up getting its throat cut way back when, there are Tesla supercharging stations here and there. Saw a used Chevy Volt (that’s the hybrid that has been discontinued) at a local used car lot yesterday.

I wasn't. Not all are made in Mexico and China. I'm referring to American companies building cars here of which Tesla is one, but you knew that.

As for Hondas and Toyotas, if you can't bring yourself to buy anything with a UAW label then they have American built choices too.

Yes he’s using the power from work provided to him by his employer, to sell back to the grid.

No, the charging station has not been provided by his employer. There are “free” charging stations all over the country for Teslas and other electric vehicles. We have dozens of them around our town. They put them in the most desirable parking locations which really pisses off all the people who have gone to a lot of trouble to get fake handicapped mirror hangars and license plates. (Sometimes I take my mother to the drug store.) />

Of course “free” means paid for by other people... you and me. So these smug virtue signaling save the planet people not only get a highly subsidized vehicle they get “free” juice to drive them around and in some cases run their households with.

If those charging stations are built by a government agency, then you’ve got a point.

If they are built by companies, then the people who purchase their merchandise pay for it.

I still maintain the same thought, although the wronged party may vary.

This guy is doing someone immoral. Morality isn’t exactly in vogue these days.

I don't know about other places in the country... but around here all the public charging stations that I am aware of are free and built and funded by the taxpayers and ratepayers. I believe the situation is the same in Oregon where our acquaintance lives and has been abusing the system for years now.

You may be right. I’m pretty sure there is a body of chargers out there that do charge a fee though.

Some malls have them out here, but I’m not sure if they charge or simply give away the electricity to bring shoppers in. It doesn’t bother me if they do, because it’s a form of advertising or marketing.

I don’t like the idea the government would give away free power.

At this time, the industry needs to stand on it’s own. Either it can make it or not.

Are you the person that asked questions about my family member that is using Tesla home batteries? If no I’ll have to look them up.

No, that wasn't me.

So I looked up what the charging station situation is where we live. It turns out that only around 20% of the stations are now free with the others charging a couple dollars for a full charge. I suspect that there is still some sort of subsidy involved knowing the politics around this town.

Those cars charge up on an amazingly small cost.

When people hit the charger, they aren’t always on empty either.

Some of our neighbors have solar panels on their house and three “plug-in” electric cars. None of them are Teslas, but they were early adopters. They told me that they usually find a free charging station for the cars, but that they typically pay $2 or $3 when they use one of the pay stations.

There is a giant tree that sits to the south of them and keeps their solar panels in shade most of the day... pretty much all day in the winter. A long with the cloudiness and rain around here they are pretty much functionally worthless, but they got subsidies so they didn’t pay much if anything for them.

They are not scam artists; they are true believers and think that they are helping to save the planet. They are leftists, but not too obnoxious if you avoid talking politics or global warming with them.
