If you are not, then this is a guy just having a bad day, not a big deal.

He was in public, in uniform, making an ass of himself and he got physical with the lady he was with (wife/girlfriend/not sure/doesn't matter).

That is not kosher, and he's got some explaining to do to his chain of command.
