Back in the mid 80’s I moved to Texas for a job and lived there for a couple years. It took me about two weeks to start being proud of being “from” Texas. It’s sort of a border contagion.

I think if you park your car with no bumper stickers at all in Midland your stuff will get stolen.

You really should include a nice big Washington Redskins bumper sticker, even if that would be ironic for an uber PC car.

I think what E.Allen meant was that they stopped that particular stunt in that episode, not the whole show as such. But the BBC axed Clarkson a few years ago and the other two left with him to do The Grand Tour for Amazon. Top Gear has gone through a succession of hosts since then and is almost dead now (this season SUCKS - IMO on purpose to kill it off).

Back to that Top Gear US special, it even has its own wiki page:

I wondered whatever happened to “Top Gear”.

The host threw a punch at a producer and they fired him. Most of the on-screen hosting staff left with him. Then the BBC decided to muddle on with some new hosts that the new, woke BBC selected It has struggled ever since.

The original host created a clone of the original show with most of the original cast on Amazon Prime called "The Grand Tour".

Maybe you can back up the charge you made about white students in Texas schools only being 28% of the student population here.

I said it and it’s actually 27.4%

Enrollment by Race/Ethnicity, Texas Public Schools, 2008-09 Through 2018-19

Scroll down to Table 4 on pg. 8.

As far as being from Michigan, Get over your Texas envy.

Dang Windy, I thought you talking about me!

Just to add to the conversation.....Here's a Texas joke written by the fiction author Nelson DeMille:

"Texas is a place you can see farther, and less, than any place in the world."

Sorry to say Windy, I laughed hard at that one.......

Nothing wrong with a little humor. We should all learn to laugh at ourselves once in a while and not be so rigid about every doggone thing in life.

Good on you for taking the time to find the data to back up your claim. Don’t see that too often anymore.

Okay, so white kids are roughly one third of the student population in Texas. Now, I wonder if that’s just for government schools, or is it for parochial, religious, private, and home schooling too.

I’ll have a look at the report tomorrow. Too late tonight.

Aaaaccckkkk...

It says “public schools” right in the link. Sorry ‘bout that. Ignore my last question to you.

So, it’s just government schools - not private, parochial, religious, or home schooling, which tends to indicate that the number of white kids in our public schools isn’t a reliable yardstick for determining the percentages of racial groups in Texas.

It appears that we’ll need to see the results of the actual census to find out if your assertion has any validity.

God bless and keep Texas, my adopted home. I’m making my stand here.

Same here. I relocated from my home state of California to Texas nearly fifteen years ago and never looked back.

I will also make my last stand here. I so dearly love Texas.

Well, it is actually.

According to the TEA, NCES and Texas Home School Coalition 91 percent of Texas students are educated in public schools, 4% in private schools and 5% are homeschooled (2016). So even if EVERY child attending a private school or homeschooled were white, white kids are still a significant minority of students in Texas. And I doubt whites make up for the entirety on non-public schooled children.

Bottom line is, the future of Texas (as goes the rest of the country) looks to be very, very brown.
