President Trump will announce that he is backing away from trying to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census during a Thursday afternoon news conference, according to multiple reports.

The president instead will take executive action to direct the Commerce Department to collect the information by other means. ABC News was the first to report the development.

A surprise, to me at least. I thought they had come up with a way to do this.

I have learned not to believe he will do something just because he says he will.

What means other than the census does the Commerce Department have?

Yes. So now according to the progressives, that becomes the “law” and Trump is breaking it. All prior censuses going well back into the 19th century had some sort of question about citizenship or birthplace.

Roberts & his resistance gang in the courts will block this question come hell or high water.

Almost zero chance it gets asked in any way, on the census or as an addendum.

This was an important battle to fight. What’s the point of being a citizen anymore?

Geraldo Rivera was on Fox news this morning and he said it would be easy to just print another sheet that goes out with the Census forms and make it optional to complete and say “It will not be shared with ICE or DHS and only for Census count”.

It’s not a bad idea. Not sure how many illegals would trust enough to complete. This way forms wouldn’t have to be reprinted and the question would likely with stand a Judge or SC slapping it down.

Seems likely the Deep State has run out the clock on this one. Seems odd the GOP in the bureaucracy did not push for the question harder since it benefits the GOPe most of all. Most likely they are just lazy and the Dems just out worked them on this one.

Trump talks a good game on these issues, but accomplishes little.

The cold hard reality is that the third-world transformation of our homeland has not slowed a bit during his tenure. In fact, it has accelerated.

When’s the removal of those million illegals supposed to happen?

Aside from this loss. The plan was to hold off deporting family units until they could get the Democrats to help fix the loopholes. To me it reeks of doing nothing (for the millionth time) so they could bargain away our enforcement which should be operating in the background regardless.
I see nothing but victory for the NWO on immigration.

We were told the FISA docs would be declassified and released (”we will be absolutely releasing”). I think that was over four months ago.

I naively thought that was going to be a WIN for the American people and we would finally get to see the long awaited evidence of the FISA abuses. Trump said so. But it was a nothing burger.

Best way to counter this in real terms would be to let ONLY IA’s fill out the census

In the future. It will be awesome.

But now’s not the right time. Nor were the first two and a half years of the administration the right time.
