Once upon a time, long, long ago they actually taught this stuff in grade school along with reading, writing, arithmetic--and--history, basic economics, the Constitution, patriotism, and other useful subjects to help youngsters learn a trade, etc. And then the left took control and decided indoctrination was more useful (to them) than educating the next generation. Why? Ronald Reagan summed it up: Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.
Big government/socialism destroys free-markets, productivity, the economy, private property, wealth (capital), individual liberty, national sovereignty and your country. Why is the UK no longer a superpower? The Labour Party came into power after WWII and they nationalized the banks, railroads, coal, steel, shipbuilding, heavy industry, and went to socialized healthcare and created a welfare state.
Socialism doesn't work. Period. Unless you like living in a controlled society that has to ration niceties like gasoline, electricity, bread, toilet paper, etc, and you like having the government moving other families in to share your assigned home. Oh, yeah, and you like waiting until you're dead to get an appointment through your government healthcare provider for that serious medical condition.
There is no such thing as a 'free' lunch.
You can't have open borders and a welfare state. They didn't teach this when I went to grade school back in the fifties, probably because welfare was basically a state and local thing, but shouldn't take our college graduates long to figure out why if they consider the millions of poor people within 'caravan' distance of our borders who would love to have government housing, welfare payments, foodstamps, free medical care, free education for their children and, eventually, voting rights so they can vote themselves even more 'free' stuff.
There is no problem too big or too small that big government can't make bigger.

Punish the workers, reward the non-workers and soon no one is working to create the “free” stuff.

which brings me to my long standing gripe...WHERE THE HELL IS BETSY DEVOS? As far as I can tell, she’s doing nothing. I know, I know; she’s working on title IX in the colleges but the indoctrination is off the charts in k-12 and no one is doing anything about it

I remember the classes on this fondly. At 60, that says a lot about the enthusiasm of the teachers involved. We formed our own Constitution Committee and argued the merits (we were assigned specific positions to take). As this was before the internet, we had to actually learn enough to understand what we were arguing. Mind, this was also 4th or 5th grade. Now, the teachers are just as enthusiastic for the wrong values.
We even have a National Holiday to celebrate the END of Communism in America! It is called Thanksgiving, see William Bradford Diaries and the True story of Thanksgiving..

The real reason liberal politicians love “socialism” is that THEY will be in power over everyone else...They will be the “cake eaters and tea sippers” while everyone else will get the crumbs...
Indoctrination is all over the colleges, too. It can be pretty insidious. Recently, I saw a textbook on leadership that refers to the electoral college as a “quaint 18th century concept that’s now outdated.”
Jim you forgot to mention that eventually it makes you end up eating your zoo animals. And living in Cincinnati here we have a very nice zoo and some very beautiful wild animals. I really really would hate to have to get out my grill and chop some of them up and Grill them and eat them.

College closes, now campus is for sale

Price on the 155-acre property is negotiable.
“It’s a beautiful campus. It’s in impeccable shape,” said Tony Blake, a Vermont real estate agent working with the Boston office of the Colliers International to sell the now-empty Green Mountain College.
Citing declining enrollment and rising costs, Green Mountain officials in January said this would be the last year in operation. The school closed in May after its final semester. With about 500 students, a limited endowment and heavy debt load, the school’s trustees said they were simply running out of money... (more at linky)
It's amazing how receptive they are - and say they now SUPPORT our freedom and Capitalism, upon completing the class.

There is no such thing as a free lunch but there is such a thing called democracy where the tyranny of the majority votes themselves a pay raise from the treasury. And that is what is exactly happening at all levels of our democracy based systems in this country. From HOAs, to cities, to non-profits, to states and finally the federal government, most are running deficits and demanding to spend other people’s money.
