I’m of Italian descent too, and any “italian” chain restos’ are suspect. BUT I’ve eaten at the so-called “best” Italian restaurants here in Hollywood and most of them are overrated and the servers were morons. The best cannoli I ever ate was at this really small restaurant so small they only have 6 tables inside and 1 waiter.

Good points all. It seems that out here when you find an Italian restaurant that's "good" it must be excellent to rate a "good" and to survive a few decades.

Guess all the truly great Italian restaurants are those little shops with checkered table cloths in Brooklyn where I never came across one that wasn't authentic, delightful and truly outstanding. (But, alas, that was 40 years ago so maybe even back there things have changed ... I sure hope not!)
