RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Fatma, a mother of twins with a demanding workload, was distraught to discover she was pregnant again. Her doctor agreed to perform an abortion, she says, only after she promised to pretend the procedure had been a medical emergency.
He felt sorry for me and told me, If someone asks you how you ended up having an abortion, I will be in trouble and will lose my job, so say you were hemorrhaging at the time, said Fatma, who lives in the West Bank.
He did the abortion for me - the first time, the second time and third time, she told Reuters, speaking on condition her real name not be used as she had never told her husband.
For women seeking abortions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, where Palestinian law strictly limits the procedure, the choice is stark: have the baby or terminate the pregnancy by using ruses, risky back-alley methods or even turning to neighboring Israel, where the laws are far more permissive.
Womens rights campaigners rue the ban but decriminalization looks unlikely. Conservative customs guide much of Palestinian society and parliament has effectively been suspended since 2007 because of factional disputes, making it impossible to amend or pass new laws.

Oh yes they very much get them!!
Fair enough, but I would say she is an extreme outlier.
If only the pro aborts in this country were dumb enough to protest over there, we could solve two problems at once!
I have under my wing a kid who is the product of a rape.
It has been a brutal two years but he is coming around from thug/punk to semi responsible human being.
I am driving him the the National Guard 5 month program for “at-risk” kids tomorrow for the last orientation.
Then next week he goes for good.
I will be his mentor for 18 months afterwards, working in conjunction with the National Guard folks running this thing.
I want no part of it.
That’s the truth.
But the mother had the kid and I could’t rightly call myself pro life if I walked away.
It’s VERY HARD not only knowing that your father doesn’t care about you, but you were the result of a HATEFUL, BRUTAL act.
To be honest, it repulses me the way the kid was conceived. Why should I lie here?
But the kid doesn’t repulse me. I care about him.
He’s just a major handful.
They certainly do, and Islam doesn’t hold that a fetus is a human being. But for the Palestinians, the problem is because Yasser Arafat said that the greatest weapon they (the Palestinians) have is the womb of a Palestinian woman.
This is horrible of me to say but only if the pro aborts would go over there and win we’d solve the ISIS problem overnight
Good for you.
How hard is it for him to know he’s a product of rape? He may not tell you but you know it hurts him. Every kid wants a Dad to look up to. What does he have? Scumbag number 1. I know he wonders why. I can’t tell him why I’m not God. Just be the best you can be in spite of your so call father.
I appreciate that but I deserve no blessings.
I’m not a very good person by a LONG SHOT and God was scraping the bottom of the barrel if he picked me to help this kid.
It is what is.
Have a good evening.
That is a wonderful thing you are doing. I am betting God is smiling at you. Prayers for you and the boy.
Our lives ALL consist of times where weve sunk to the bottom of the barrel and other times when we float to the top....consider the boy as your flotation device and enjoy the ride to the surface! The past is the past but perhaps yours equips you to help this boy like others cant. Safe travels.
Thanks.
He’s slowly killing me :)
I never had kids so now I have at least an INKLING of the suffering and love involved.
Respect. To you.
That means a lot coming from you. Thank you.
I have a lot to make up for.
Good evening to you.
Gee, wonder if the pro abort left, allies of islam know this?/sarc
