and we all lead very happy and healthy lives and live to 200-400 years and perhaps more. BUT, BUT, BUT... Where will everybody live?

That's no problem. Everybody will live in 12-mile high skyscrapers hanging from orbiting asteroids and dangling 31 miles above the surface of the Earth.

Don't believe me? The plan is already in the works!

My wife asked me last night if anyone has ever said how much is really saved buying a Tesla (or Leaf). You always hear people crowing about how much they save not buying gas, so I just assume the comparative savings are massive, yet I have never seen it spelt out. Where I live kilowatt hours are cheap on a North American level. I think 12 Canadian cents where I live. Assuming a person is not a total cheapskate, and only charges their car at free stations but actually trickle charges at home, how much does it cost say to get 100 miles on flat road?

The average rate in the U.S. is $0.132 per kWh (September 2017), which is the cost we use in the chart below

The charts are for $0.1287 per kWh and Gas @$2.73.2

Many calculators available where you can plug in your own numbers.

This chart lists all the EVs.

I like video conferencing with co-workers, but just one-on-one.

I like being able to give them my facial reactions to silly ideas.

Wow, those are significant savings - up to 70% for the Leafs and the Tesla. In Canada it would be even larger considering how much more our gas costs.

I guess the next thing to look at is the capital costs. Cost of electric vs closest gas cousin, resale values, ect….

Think about it. 2001:A Space Odyssey, was nearly twenty years ago. We are so far from where we thought we’d be, it’s like we’re standing still. And the movie was made fifty years ago.

If you went back fifty years from Odyssey was made, you get 1915. Now that was cultural and civilizational change.

What we’re doing now is running in place, and maybe even regressing.

““And the “Coming Ice Age” becomes “Global Warming” becomes “Climate Change”!”

Becomes “Coming ice age” again. But this time, because of The Grand Solar Minimum for the next fifty years, is likely real. Millennials will be begging for global warming twenty years from now.

Cost of electric vs closest gas cousin,

Current thinking is $10k to $15k above parity with ICE.

Not TCO, just purchase price.

Not sure about today, but last year my son looked into a used Leaf, VERY CHEAP!
They leased many of them when gas was high, gas came down as the lease ended...

He drives 100 miles each way every day. Typically less than two hours.
I would walk 10-15 minutes to the train station, then one hour on the train then 15-20 walk... An hour and a half plus, door to door.

Wait until the war of Tower #23457 versus Tower #67553!

It’s brutal.

It’s brutal.

Just wait for the internecine contest between levels 1-1278 (Blue team) and 1279 up (Green team)!

Blue cuts off ALL the services, electric, plumbing, HVAC...
But they are resupplied from the roof helipad.

Jumpers from the Green team continuously attack the lower levels and send raiders downward for hit and runs...

And you never know when the Green team is gone, leaving a large ticking package...

But, but, but....

Steel doesn’t melt!

Conspiracy theory: The Red team did it.

And the ticking package needs to be down lower, not higher.

The future is determined by scientists and inventors working to solve problems and satisfy needs in the free market.

“Let the future tell the truth and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine.”
