That's why when Krispy Kreme opens a location in New York's Times Square early next year, it will feature the world's largest Hot Light.
That won't be the only unique component of the 24-hour, 4,500-square-foot retail space, which will sit at the corner of Broadway and 48th Street. The location's "doughnut theater experience" will showcase the doughnut making process from end-to-end, from the mixing of ingredients to running the tasty treats through a glaze "waterfall."
Oh, and if you get hungry and want to eat one (or a box?) of them, there will be stadium-style seating in the shop so you'll have great seats to view the whole show, because this location will be on Broadway, after all.
Krispy Kreme predicts the Times Square shop will serve more guests annually than any other of its locations in the world.
The grand openings of Krispy Kreme locations can create a frenzy. When the chain opened up its first location in Ireland last year, more than 300 people were lined up at 7 a.m. at the doughnut chain's location in Dublin. This location also featured a 24-hour drive-thru, which created its own set of problems.

Bring back X-rated movies and Ratso Rizzo.
But they’ll still taste like crap.
Like sugar floating on air.
I hear you. I’ve had Krispy Kreme, and didn’t care for them. I like the donuts from a local donut shop much better.
Krispy Kreme gets a lot of hype and publicity. Is that why people think they are so great?
To me, Krispy Kreme is to doughnuts as McDonald’s is to hamburgers. Both are major chains, but the product they have is not nearly as tasty as you can find elsewhere.
Cue Willy Wonka...
Exactly!
My test for a good donut is one that still tastes good right from the box the next morning. KK doesn't even come close to passing that test.
Sorry, but completely disagree...
Grew up in the south with KK long before the New York money men showed up and ruined the company...
They have a SUPURB product... but honestly you have to have them warm...
If you are eating it cold, its just another donut...
And on that criteria, yes, I would choose other donuts.. but fresh out of the fryer, nothing else comes close.

That's part of it.
The other part is you can get them
still hot from the fryer.
Like french fries, doughnuts are better fresh fresh fresh.
Get ‘em from a shop where they’re actually cooked, early morning while they’re still warm. Packaged from a grocery store? Not even close. Of course, that’s also going to be why your local shop is preferred. Nothing beats fresh.
Same here. KK had a great product till the goons from New Yawk showed up.
Can the glaze waterfall pour over the stadium seats? Because I’d like to sit there.
Times Square is overrated. I could not wait to get out of that mob of humanity, advertising hell and light pollution.
CNN reporting? .... Probably means someone is putting in an Ace Hardware in Brooklyn. (Accuracy in report is an issue with these people).
Who is that?
Agreed. Remind me of crappy 80’s microwave donuts.
The ones you get at truck stops might
not be of the same quality
Usually Theyre good for a few days
DD are stale in a few hours
