And this species is definitely different from other ticks -- in ways that are potentially worrisome to humans.
First, female longhorned ticks can reproduce without the aid of a male. A single female can lay thousands of eggs, which will hatch into more females.

The longhorned Asian tick is moving in!
Oh, goody. Just what the world needs... more ticks.
A feminist, man hating creature.
I am ticked off.
Is there some way to eradicate them, before they multiply?
Does it have an agent yet.
Can reproduce without a male. STAR of the left already!!
And all REALLY ugly dykes over 50 :)
We need to reciprocate with China and surreptitiously introduce non-native (to China) pests and agricultural diseases to China. Turn-about is fair play.
“But health experts are keenly aware that in Asia, and in Australia and New Zealand, where the tick is found as well, it is known to spread pathogens that can be lethal to humans and animals.”
How horrible.
They really need to work on something to kill them before they multiple and take over the country and kill us all.
Nuke them from orbit.
The BUBONIC PLAGUE is NOT FAR BEHIND in LA!!! OMG! I am so glad I’m old!
I would not blame China. I doubt that they are spreading these deliberately.
Ticks are hellacious critters. That said, Ive always wondered why they havent been modified to deliver something positive (an antibody or some such thing). Their bite is pretty unobtrusive, and while its disgusting to see one of them attached to you, they’re fairly easy to remove. So why not use their saliva-borne injection capacities for something positive?
Just a thought. But personally I hate them, because I hike and I know theyre out there...waiting....
So what we could catch is called RYME DISEASE? (think about it..)
I would not blame China. I doubt that they are spreading these deliberately.

Well, I blame China. For example, the Snakehead fish didnt introduce itself into a Maryland pond from where it began its spread in the US.

The dream of feminists everywhere.
I saw what you did there...
That does it!!! I am never leaving my hermetically sealed home again.
I’m very glad you did...lol!
ROTFLMAO!!!
