DOE job ad sought ‘teachers of color’ for NYC schools
NY Post ^ | June 3, 2019 | Julia Marsh, Selim Algar and Bruce Golding

An online job posting for a Manhattan school district specifically sought “teachers of color” amid an alleged push by Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza to combat “toxic whiteness” in Big Apple public schools, The Post has learned.

The help-wanted ad, which was spotted by a former teacher on April 27, was linked to an invitation to a May 14 job fair sponsored by the district, which covers the East Village and part of the Lower East Side.

The racially targeted post on the Indeed.com web site said Community School District 1 was seeking “teachers of color for the 2019-2020 school year.”

The district includes some top schools, including the highly rated PS 110 Florence Nightingale.

“We are committed to diversifying our teaching staff to better serve the diverse populations we serve,” read the invite, posted on the Eventbrite ticketing site by Irene Sanchez, principal of PS 15 Roberto Clemente.

The help-wanted ad disappeared from Indeed a day after former teacher Dawn Donohue saw it and took a screenshot.

According to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, it is “illegal for an employer to publish a job advertisement that shows a preference for or discourages someone from applying for a job” due to race, color, religion, sex or other characteristics.

Word of the posting comes amid mounting controversy over Carranza’s racial “equity” initiatives — which critics say include pushing the concept of “toxic whiteness” — and his denials that he’s biased against white teachers and staffers, as alleged in a $90 million discrimination suit by three DOE officials filed last month.

This is outrageous. First, the Mexican who came in from the cold, Carranza, mandates that teachers were required to attend seminars given by white-hating "professors" to hear about "toxic whiteness" and other outrageous racist blather. Then, senior white administrators have filed a lawsuit stating that they were being replaced by less qualified black and Hispanic personnel. Now, this blatantly racist ad calling for only "people of color" to apply for these Dept. of Education positions. When is Big Turd, the mayor, going to be forced to jettison Skid Mark, who plays the Robin of Racism to Big Turd's Shatman?

IOW, ‘White applicants need not apply’?
I thought that kind of blatant racial discrimination was illegal in the United States. Hopefully, some applicants don’t let this pass unbroadcasted.

If I get a teaching degree and paint my tallywhacker purple, does that make me a teacher of color ?

I actually wouldn’t mind it so much if there wasn’t the double standard.

We know they ONLY mean these laws for whites and whatever lesser group.

No problem saying “blacks only”, but “whites only”? Not on your life.

It’s a violation on its face.

Does being blonde qualify? Blonde is a color.

I wonder how the school district would fare if the majority or all of the “toxic” teachers said to hell with this and granted Dom Carranza’s wish?
Probably never happen in a million years, but it would be instructive, I believe.

Sue them (and Indeed.com) for racial discrimination. If someone had posted a job that was “whites only” or to minimize “toxic blackness”, you know darned well it would never be tolerated.

It’s everywhere. Noticed how many commercials show blacks these days? Or notice how frequently when a white is shown that the white is the idiot and the black person is the smart one?

White is a color. As much as black is.

Strictly speaking, neither is.

White is the sum of all colors (visible spectrum wavelenghts).

Black is the absence of any color (ironically, the way it's used with regard to ethnicities).

That’s illegal and unconstitutional. Time to start putting people in jail for things like this.
