60 Minutes corespondent Scott Pelley says he was let go as host of the CBS Evening News because he spoke up to his bosses about the hostile workplace within the networks news division.
In an interview with CNNs Brian Stelter on Sundays Reliable Sources, Pelley explains, Weve been through a dark period of the last several years of incompetent management and sort of a hostile work environment within the news division. I lost my job at the evening news because I wouldnt stop complaining to management about the hostile work environment.
Pelley who served as anchor of the CBS Evening News from 2011 to 2017 went on to share that four or five years ago, he approached management with his concerns. I went to the president of the news division and explained to him that this hostile work environment couldnt go on for women and men and he told me that if I kept agitating about that, internally, that Id lose my job, Pelley reveals. I went to his boss, who told me that he didnt share my concerns. And so, having exhausted the possibilities in the news division, I went to the chairman of the CBS Corporation, who listened to me, very concerned, for an hour, asked me some penetrating questions about what was going on. I didnt hear back from him, but in the next opportunity in my contract, I was let go from the evening news. (At the time, Les Moonves was chairman of CBS Corporation, while David Rhodes served as president of CBS News.)
But with the current new regime at CBS which includes a new chairman, the first woman president of the news division and a new executive producer at 60 Minutes now everything has changed, Pelley says, adding that its all blue sky from here. Im very excited. I know these people, and I know that were on the right track.

“From this point on we are just going to attack Trump on a daily basis”.
He never says what exactly was hostile about it. I didnt know his name (because I rarely watch TV, except in airports) but he seems to have done investigative journalism that focused on various things, not particularly political, such as child trafficking. So what happened?
Always the democrat dominated companies and industries that are the hostile work environments...
That’s an insult to giant cesspools!
I am to read between the lines and think he is a conservative working in a hostile/liberal environment?

My take on this is that Pelly is just looking to excuse his own poor performance. I cheered the day he was fired.
Did they hire him BACK?? He acts like they did......and he sounds and looks like he’s a big complainer any way!
He must have found out the children being trafficked where somehow involved with big Dem big shots so CBS shut him up. The commie media now is about 95 percent Dem operated, they report nothing but the commie line
I figured Pelley was a lib which really doesn’t jive with his excuses. Now you know why I was asking.
More and more, I see Asians anchoring the news.
Yup. In surveys aboutmhow they vote for president your estimate reflects their % that admit voting democrat.
That’s the other thing that irks me about CBS news. Correspondents with foreign accepts reporting on an American news show. Can’t they even find competent Americans?
All the ‘lsm’ outfits are hostile as far as I’m concerned. If they all went bankrupt, I wouldn’t give a damn.
True. :D
So he worked with lousy managers in a tightening revenue environment? Just like everyone else in the world. Its called competition.
We have to deal with it daily. Grow the eff up.
Look up the definition of “Smarmy.”
You’ll find a pix of Scott Pelley.
You have to kill the King, when you start out to kill the King.
Never liked this punk.
I Was Fired For Complaining About ‘Hostile’ Workplace..... and I sucked as an anchor.Take your incompetence as a man Pelley and move on.
All that complaining made for a hostile work environment. Fixing it required letting him go.
