A more common distinction is that venom is injected by a bite or sting, while poison is ingested.

Poison is not usually distinguished by its entry route. It too can be injected, as well as inhaled or absorbed through skin.

I did notice the reference to Hamlet, though: “No, no. They do but jest, poison in jest; no offense in the world.”
