It is dawning and Pluskat is relieved after a long night. The men will eat breakfast, but Pluskat wants to take one more look. He starts to say that there isn’t even a seagull out to see . . . when he finally sees a huge armada headed toward his beach. He turns around and says: "The invasion . . . it’s coming." Pluskat calls into headquarters to say that there must be 5,000 ships out on the English Channel. He is told to pull himself together, because the Allies don’t even have 2,500 ships, much less 5,000. Pluskat yells into the phone: "Well dammit! Come and see for yourself, you fool!’ On the other end, the officer asks where are these ships headed? Pluskat screams into the phone: "Straight for me!!"That never fails to make me laugh.
