FULL TITLE: 'The best horse did NOT win!' Trump blasts controversial Kentucky Derby reversal as 'political correctness' after winning horse is disqualified for 'impeding' another's path

President Donald Trump added his outrage on sunday to the national dustup over Saturday's controversial Kentuky Derby finish, complaining that disqualifying the apparent winning horse for interfering with another is a sign of 'political correctness' run amok.

'The Kentuky [sic] Derby decision was not a good one. It was a rough and tumble race on a wet and sloppy track, actually, a beautiful thing to watch,' Trump wrote on Twitter.

'Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur. The best horse did NOT win the Kentucky Derby - not even close!'

Trump misspelled 'Kentucky' in 'Kentucky Derby.'

The 145th running of the Triple Crown's most fabled race disintegrated into sportsmanship chaos after judges disqualified first-place finisher Maximum Security and declared runner-up Country House the winner.

TV viewers also were outraged by the result, blasting the race stewards who made the controversial call.

'Fixed! I'll never watch this again! Shame on you!' one fan declared in a tweet.

'Shameful! It was clear who won! #MaximumSecurity', added another.

While thousands were left shocked by the disqualification, it was very welcome news for one bettor who put money on Country House, an underdog with odds of 65-1.

According to sports analyst Darren Rovell, the person placed $2,500 on Country House before winning a whopping $133,000 in return.

Honestly? This is NOT something he needs to weigh in on. He doesn’t have to comment on EVERYTHING. I love him and I have learned to love his tweets. But this is just not necessary. That is my opinion. And since when does the best horse, athlete or team always win. That’s what makes it exciting!

Not sure why he’s getting into being a race official. It was an unfortunate outcome.

My Big Media DJ that morning gave all sorts of reasons why he wouldn’t predict a winner. Seemed odd.

“President Trump is a human being, as are we all.

As such, he may on occasion say something wrong, or even something dumb. Like this.

Doesn’t mean he isn’t doing a good job, doesn’t mean I won’t vote to re-elect him.”

I think it's wonderful that President Trump has weighed in on this.

Savor every day of this presidency, we are unlikely to see the likes of Trump for the rest of our natural lives. These are going to be remember as the best years of our lives.

I watched the replays. If I were in federal LE, my big feet would be itching :-)

Hillary should have been declared the winner. She really wants a victory, any victory, real bad.

Same as a race car driver blocking another trying to pass...

I am not into horse racing. Does the horse or the jockey have a rear view mirror?

This isn't Marcus of Queens-bury rules here this is mano-e-mano till' the finish, and they fubar'd that.

Horse racing isn't really a cage match like you suggest. It's called the sport of kings and it's pretty well regulated (mafia fixes notwithstanding). There are rules about impeding progress of other horses, they didn't pull a "1972 Olympic Men's Basketball" where a soviet referee started making up phantom calls to guarantee a Soviet win over a dominant USA team. But hey, I don't know what I'm talking about so you have that to consider :-)

LOL.

I would hope that one doesn't have to add an I'll-still-vote-for-Trump disclaimer just because they criticize Trump's silly Kentucky Derby tweet.

I agree. I doubt the stewards would have made such a decision without a full review of videos available. I am pretty sure “interference” being a reason to disqualify a winner is nothing new. And you are 100 percent correct about the stud fees.

TRUE. Moreover, I’ve watched the replays very carefully several times, including in slow-motion & there is NO situation where the 1st horse to cross the finish line, after interfering with at least 2 other horses & in such a situation as was likely to cause ALL of the leaders to fall, should not have been disqualified.

Professional jockeys know better than to cut-off an oncoming rival horse/jockey & thereby win a race that they should not have won
(Sometimes they actually get away with interfering with another horse or horses.)

The 3 stewards made the correct “judgement call”, imVho.

Yours, TMN78247
