Well he!! yes. Russia wasnt in the Middle East all these years just for their health. It was obvious and foreordained that if Assad survived, Russia would profit immensely. They already have had a major military seaport, everything else will just be gravy.

That regime change stuff was brilliant! If Assad had fallen, ISIS would’ve had a corridor to the Med, and the port would be part of the Caliphate. This is a better outcome than what happened in Libya.
