What is missing in this picture? A strong, motivated HOA :)
This is an extreme case, I think everyone would agree. Strong motivated HOA’s are typically run by a bunch of busy bodies with no life of their own, so they get their jollies off of bullying homeowners. Just my take.
HOA’s can do good, but ultimately you'll get a few @$$ hats on the board that have axes to grind because of personality conflicts.
I spent 3 years on our board, two as president, one as treasurer. Man, the stuff that was discussed, the crap they'd want to do was just stupid.
They can't not do anything, they HAVE TO do something...even if it is sophomoric and plain stupid...they'd have to just do something...just because.
I'd rather go out in the country and purchase 20 acres and place my home right smack in the middle. No HOA, No wonky neighbors, no city ordinances.
