P(1) "The smoking of marijuana, with its careful preparation of the elements and the solemn passing around of the shared joint, was the unholy communion of the counterculture in the late 1960s, when our present elite formed its opinions." . . .
P(2)"But let me say through clenched teeth that it is of course very good news that a fashionable young metropolitan person such as Mr. Berenson is at last prepared to say openly that marijuana is a dangerous drug whose use should be severely discouraged." . . .
P(5). . . "One evening, the Berensons were discussing one of her cases, a patient who had committed a terrible, violent act. Casually, Jacqueline remarked, Of course he was high, been smoking pot his whole life. Alex doubtfully interjected, Of course?, and she replied, Yeah, they all smoke. (She didnt mean tobacco.) And she is right. They all do. You dont need to be a psychiatrist to know this. You just have to be able to do simple Internet searches." . . .

Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence by alex berenson free press, 272 pages, $26
Please read the entire article before commenting. Thank you, Norski
. . .”Tell Your Children is filled with persuasive, appalling individual case histories of wild violence, including the abuse of small children. It also lists and explains the significance of powerful, large-scale surveys of Swedish soldiers and New Zealand students, which connect the drug to mental illness and lowered school performance.
Berenson provides facts and statistics about violent crime in places where marijuana is widely available, and anecdotes so repetitive that they cease to be anecdotes. The puzzle remains as to why it is necessary to say all this repeatedly when a sensible person would listen the first time.
Perhaps it is because of the large, and very well-funded, campaigns for marijuana legalization described by Berenson. People who drink fair-trade coffee and eat vegan, who loathe other greed lobbiessuch as pharmaceuticals, tobacco, fast food, or sugary drinkssmile on this campaign to make money from the misery of others.”
Thanks Norski - will read later. I imagine that some of the mental problems are there before the pot? With the pot viewed as a “remedy”? But only makes things worse.
Thank you for posting. People need to know the truth.
I’ve read too much already to have to keep seeing this nonsense on FR.
Now excuse half the men on the board while they get soused tonight on beer or Whiskey or whatever.
My poison is whiskey.
The 1950s are looking for you.
They need an extra.
What are you going to do when you see everyone around you stoned out of their brains, crapping in the streets, randomly attacking people in violent outbursts, breaking into your home at night?
Thanks for posting.
Hope there’s no “dangling particibles” (sic) in the article.
100%
On marijuana threads, inevitably someone will bring up 10th amendment issues, as states legalize marijuana while it stays illegal under federal law.
And then someone will express the libertarian view of the issue. And often they will say prohibition of alcohol didn’t work, so why are there laws against any drugs.
We seldom see a good discussion of dangers of marijuana, as more states are legalizing recreational use.
I would imagine that it would be impossible to determine that in any way, given that so many begin using pot in elementary school.
Dear Sir:
Whiskey was one of mine as well. The Lord Jesus Christ removed most of the other poisons from my life before I asked, and has very graciously removed the worst of the cravings for alcohol at present.
And while the 1950s do look attractive to me from this perspective of 2019, this is where we are. We cannot escape this world except through death.
I believe that FreeRepublic is fighting a holding action, as well as pushing back against the worst of this world, and that there is a place for editorials here.
Thank you, Norski
Yes. Sometimes I accidentally create them while excerpting.
You are welcome. Please do read the entire article. Thank you.
I hate all the ads which talk about putting money into pot stocks.
And the owner of Corona beer is working on a pot brew for when pot is totally legalized.
Does anyone remember the long campaign to get people to stop smoking cigarettes?
There will be restaurants where you will be able to smoke pot but not tobacco.
How much do you wanna bet?
If our societies moral fabric is deteriorated to the point where everyone smokes legal pot to the extreme you describe, we’re already done for. People make choices in life. The best we can do is make good ones ourselves and encourage the people close to us to do the same.
Professionalism will still be expected within the adult world. I can go to a supermarket right now and purchase something from a cashier who isn’t in the process of getting blackout drunk even though alcohol is legal.
The fact is, laws are not the answer for social problems. We do not advocate for gun laws and we don’t expect to see people on the streets everywhere shooting each other without reason. Laws do not solve the problem of an irresponsible society.
Oh my god....someone smoked pot!!!!!!!
Here’s a video presentation by Berenson on the increasing dangers of Marijuana use:

Big Marijuana wants everyone addicted to this dangerous drug.
