In the Declaration of Independence, the citizens were complaining about a two-tiered justice system (among other things), and here we are again.
The fact the case was sealed, his bond was forfeited, and “community service was done” - its pretty clear that along with likely pressure from politicos higher-up, the Cook County DA shoe-horned Smollett’s case into an Illionois “first felony offender” program, designed by “progressive” IL to keep young black men out of prison.
No comment will be made on Smollett’s guilt. Its up to the Judge and DA to come to agreement, and then the case will be sealed.

I’m confused about who dropped the charges; this story says State Attorney Kim Foxx, but other reports mention an unnamed “judge.” I thought Foxx recused herself from this case.
