To: cuban leaf

I remember reading about a black bear attack in the Great Smokey Mountains in TN about 12 or 15 years ago. A woman was killed by a 150 lb black bear, if I remember correctly.

Yeah. That’s one of the things I read about. A couple of things:
1. Black bear attacks are extremely rare, even though people come across them a lot.
2. I’m not a woman. It matters. :)

On the island of Newfoundland the black bears can reach 600 pounds. And if you get away from them you may run into a moose on same trail. Seen both large scat piles and dropped antlers on the same path on the mountain side with family. Locals pretty well armed but visitors Limited in options.
